I love the staff, especially Skye and Dr. Rovner is simply awesome. I was looking up their number to make an appointment and was completely surprised by their rating I had to write my own. They are always very professional and after going to them for years have developed a nice relationship with Skye and Dr. Rovner.
Office and staff were very kind and professional. The biopsy procedure and after-care were explained clearly. I would have given 5 stars, but I never got a call with my biopsy results. I was told 1 to 3 weeks for results. I kept checking my patient portal and no results have ever been posted there. After nearly 5 weeks, I called the office to inquire about my results. They got a nurse on the phone and she gave me my results and asked how I was doing, etc. It would have been nice to get a call or an update on my patient portal about my results. It was nerve wracking waiting for the cancer / no cancer diagnosis.
Been going here for a year so and been here probably a handful of times and I've had a solid experience so far. Staff has been good, knows what they are doing and have taken good care of it. The staff is sometimes a little standoffish and could be more proactive sometimes, but as long as you make sure to bring things up and ask questions they do great. I haven't had any billing issues and any work I've had done has been handled without any trouble from a financial perspective. I've been able to get appointments scheduled quickly and at a variety of times so big plus there.
My wife and I have had generally poor experiences here -- let me clarify, the doctors are good at being doctors, but the office staff is either incompetent, understaffed, or both. They have treated us unprofessionally, you can't get an appointment when you really need it, you can never see the doctor you want to see unless you schedule 6 months out. One time they sent a prescription to the wrong pharmacy even though we explicitly said we want this certain one on two occasions. The doctors tell you that if you have a need some medical needs are time-sensitive, just call and we'll work you in. The office staff never got this message, they tell you one date, a month out, take it or leave it. We're working through some things and will give them a couple more months, but if they don't get their act together we'll be looking elsewhere.
I am disappointed by the level of customer service that I received from Dermatology PC in Ankeny. My doctor is great and I am happy with his work. He's doing a great job. However, upon recently visiting the location in Ankeny for an appointment, I felt as though the staff was less than professional. Upon being called back for my appointment, I was directed to go to an exam room. When entering my exam room, it was clear that the exam room was not cleaned up from the previous appointment because the paper on the exam chair was crumpled up. The person that was helping me worked on cleaning up the paper while discussing my appointment with me. With the questions that this person asked of me, it was clear to me that this person had no idea what and why I had the appointment that I had. This bothered me because it did not seem like any communication was being completed from the time that I made the appointment to the time that I arrived. Given the personal nature of medical services, I would expect medical professionals to treat me like a human being rather than an appointment block on the doctor's schedule. As such, upon making the appointment, there should've been communication as to what and why I was making the appointment so, that when I arrived, it didn't seem like the staff was completely clueless. Additionally, we discussed the cost of the procedure and whether any or all of it would be covered by insurance. The staff had limited knowledge of this and seemed rather unsure. As a patient/customer, I guess I expected to have a more clearer definition of what things cost prior to actually buying them. If the staff was proactive and actually showed some interest in customer service then they could've anticipated why I was coming, known how much it would cost me and what impact it would have on my personal insurance, and could've made the experience more timely and efficient. In the end, because of the way I was treated, I ended up declining any procedure at all. I just wish I didn't have to waste my time on this appointment.
I don't understand all the negative reviews. I recently switched dermatologists, and Dr. Rovner and her team were so attentive and made me feel like I was in good hands. I did have to wait 40 minutes which was slightly annoying, but overall, I was very impressed and grateful they could help me.
Very disappointed today in the customer service that I received over the telephone. Upon calling to confirm location of the appointment I mentioned to the customer service rep that my insurance has just changed because of a recent job change and that I do not have a card yet. Person on the phone was very argumentative instead of offering top quality service and calling place of employment or UHC to inquire about the new policy I was told that I would not be seen because I do not have insurance or paperwork to hand them. This is very disappointing because as a patient we deserve to be able to see a doctor and also deserve to be able to be treated with excellence and compassion after all we are the reason they are there. Without your customers there is no job. If they did not want to call and verify information with health insurance I feel they could have billed it with retail and I could have brought in insurance information once seen. After all if I didn't wouldn't they bill me personally and have my social on file to receive payments. This was absolute terrible customer service and if once must visit a location and offer to pay money for their services I feel patients must be treated with compassion and too quakity customer service. Let's not forget while we as health care professionals have a job. I will take my business elsewhere. Thank you for your time and I apologize for myself becoming upset and hanging up.
Just decided to put in my 2 cents after reading the other reviews. I am a patient of Dr. Wilson. I do not work for the clinic nor do I know anyone there personally. Be prepared to be scolded. First of all...be an adult and take some responsibility! It is not up to the clinic or the staff to hunt down your insurance information. YOU call and get the info if you don't have your card yet. Your mama does't work there. I have called my insurance and it was easy. It took me about 10 minutes which included being on hold before talking to anyone. I was given my ID number, a PCN, BIN, and Group number plus the phone number for the help desk if the office had any problems. While you are doing this you might want to ask about your co-pay. There are thousands of insurance plans and the office is supposed to know what the insurance company is going to pay? REALLY? You will pay your regular office co-pay but any additional tests or procedures will be extra and are determined by your insurance company. If the doctor is recommending a procedure then ask if you can get the ICD-9 or ICD-10 code. Sorry I do not know which one it is. With that code the insurance company should be able to help you. Emergency. You may think it is an emergency because it is you; entitled as you are. No.Years ago I convinced a friend to make an appointment. He did but I followed up with a phone call myself. I told the staff he had called but I wanted to explain why I thought he should be seen right away. They did not verify that he was a patient so don't even start on privacy. They called him back and said they had a cancellation for the next day. It turned out he had skin cancer and they got it just in time. I will be forever grateful to them. That was a true emergency. I have only had great service there. The office staff, the nurses have all been wonderful. Dr. Wilson is great! He made me feel comfortable and at ease at once. He was knowledgeable and even was able to tell me what was wrong before being examined just by talking to me. Had tests done and it confirmed he was correct. Lipodermatosclerosis. I had been misdiagnosed five times by regular doctors. So grateful to Dr. Wilson! He is awesome!!!! In conclusion...stop your whining! Be an adult! You have now been scolded by an old lady. Listen to your elders! Feel free to be ashamed.
I went here on a handful of occasions for adult acne that I couldn't get under control. After filling me up with several different medications mostly antibiotics I got tired of being given bandaids for a problem that literally just popped up out of nowhere. Was I to be on antibiotics the rest of my life or was someone going to help me figure out what was going on?? After having skin reactions to several medicines and seeing moderate improvements, I lost my faith in the 3 different doctors I saw. I spent hours researching then ultimately self-diagnosing. My acne is finally under control because I figured out the problem on my own when the experts couldn't. It was actually fairly simple and I feel dumb for not figuring it out on my own sooner. Disappointed with time and money wasted here.
I saw Dr Jennifer Vandervier and was really impressed with her. I had a few moles looked at and removed and the whole process took 10 minutes. The staff was all kind and helpful and answered all my questions well. Dr Vandervier was very professional and informative. I would definitely recommend her to anyone. Great experience!
