About

Now Playing - "How the Grouch Stole Christmas: Green Eggs and Hilarious Hams"

"In our Playhouse, we do parodies of TV shows, movies, and Broadway plays. Our shows are musical comedy melodramas. We always have a hero and a villain, and the audience is encouraged to boo the villain and cheer for the hero.In the theater, you’re seated at small round tables that hold from 2 to 6 people, depending on the table. While you watch the show, you can order pizza, finger foods, and dessert. The food is optional and not included in the ticket price."

In all the years I have lived in Utah I’ve never been to this playhouse. It was a great experience. Service was great. Everyone was dressed in old western garb. The food and drinks were tasty. The play was very entertaining. I will definitely be back. I recommend at least visiting once for sure.
A must see! This is great for a date, celebrating an event and for travelers/tourists. The theme/decor was so cute and western styled. I especially loved the seating area which we sat at tables and were able to order food to our tables from there. Our waitress was very efficient and kind. We watched the Pirate play and it was hilarious a mix of jokes, live music, slight adult humor, dancing and singing. I would recommend that ages 12+ attend specifically the pirate play to fully understand and because of the mild adult theme. The food was absolutely delicious and I loved that it was brought out to us. The show was absolutely amazing and we all had a great time, but tickets ahead of time because they sell out.
Our first time visiting Desert Star and we had such a great evening! It was the perfect date night for some light hearted comedy theater. The playhouse is set up very well and we really enjoyed the entire experience. The play was funny and kept our interest. The seating was also great and our servers were very pleasant. We shared some loaded nacho fries which were delicious. Highly recommend this wonderful local playhouse.
Really fun place to watch a show and have some laughs. The acting was great. The singing was great. The jokes were great. There were people of all ages, and many couples out on dates. The humor is fun and family-friendly. The food served is not spectacular, but it was good and was served super fast for the number of people there. We had the chicken ranch pizza and a BBQ burger. My pictures do not do the food justice as the entire place is dark when the food comes out. So yes, you do eat in complete darkness. Although the place fits many people, the tables are tiny, and it makes you feel crammed. You are really close to others. So, if you are uncomfortable with being in close proximity to others, you may not like it. I really enjoyed the show so I can't wait to go back for the other shows.
If you're looking for a place to laugh all your cares away Desert Star Playhouse is the place to go. From curtains up to the last bows they will have you rolling in your seat, laughing at yourself through the characters on stage and enjoying the time that you have with your family and a family friendly venue. Cannot recommend this place enough
Friends treated us to this experience & we loved it. We watched "Pirates of the Caribbean - yo ho ho, and a bottle of fun!" It was great! We loved how the cast interacted with the audience!! The service was good & the pizza was great!
We have been season ticket holders for a few years and enjoy coming to see the shows. One suggestion would be to work on either the mics, sound system, or actors projecting more. Some actors are very easy to hear and understand, but others are difficult. Part of dinner theater is projecting to the back of the house or getting better mics. This has been the case with quite a few shows lately, and we sit usually in the third row. Love your work!
Lots of fun, great parody, enthusiastic performers, attentive staff. Tickets are about $35 per person per show. Food is good, but a bit expensive for burgers pizza and salads. 2 burger baskets, a soda each, a small dish of ice cream, and the 18% gratuity they added for a party of two ended up being $45. The night out was $115. Even so, it was a very enjoyable evening! I would have given this 5 stars if not for the cost of the dinner.
Butch Cassidy and the Sunburnt Kid was a HILARIOUS show! Very well done. And we loved their special “TV show themes” bit at the end. Can’t wait to come back for future shows!!
We have been season ticket holders for several years. We look forward to each new production. The cast always puts their heart’s and talents into every role they play! I think I love the olio’s at the end more than the plays! Great atmosphere and greater fun!
