Desert West Skateboard Plaza

The Desert West Skate Plaza is a notorious skatepark known throughout the skateboarding community as the place where The Phoenix Am takes place. The skatepark was designed by Site Design Group and opened in 2011, concrete base with a variety of obstacles, including a large bowl, a competition street section with rails, stairs, ledges, and other various features such s banks and transitions. The park is also conveniently located near other recreational amenities, including a swimming pool, a park, and also has lights for night skating.

WHY is the gate never open and I see ppl climbing the fence during operating hours? I always leave and find a different skate park

My children absolutely love it here. They just recently picked up skateboarding and want to come here three to four times a week... More I'm sure if they had the choice I have grown up around the corner from this park and went there as a child I can remember in preschool actually playing at the park and I am now 32 years old and passed on the great place to my two children who now love it also My son even wants to have his birthday party at the skate park at Desert West this year and it's so great to have something in the community that stays in such great shape as well as modernized as the years pass by. Thank you for making this skate park and all other recreational amenities available and fun all these years!

Love this place, first time back since the early 2000s

Desert west is a great park! They extended the park with a bowl and updated the rest of the park with new ramps kicker manual pads and quarter pipes.....its a strictly skatebaord park and the last time I went, it was super clean and freshly painted by local artist....if you have younger kids I suggest you stay and watch them. I love this park my favorite place to learn new tricks with how everything is set up now. Go check it out but always bring water!

It's a small concrete skatepark, that's mostly vert. It's a lot of fun and very flowy. But it needs better drainage the bowls were filled with water but other than that it's pretty good I recommend.

Place is awesome, really nice place to skate. Park also has baseball, basketball, tennis and a playground.

This is probably the oldest skate park in AZ, and it's been added to over time. The pool in the back is a lot of fun, and the street course is much better than it was 20 years ago. The murals throughout add some much needed color to the experience. There was a lot of trash around, and some of the surfaces were not super smooth, so that's why only 4 stars.
