Very nice welcome center! However closed on the weekend we visited on a Sunday somewhat out of the way, however plenty of parking. Although nice to see a new welcome center it was odd to see more of a Detroit/Mexican Town theme going on considering it’s an international border one would assume you would have an American theme promoting the country’s points of interest along with what you can find in Detroit and Michigan.
I drove a U-Haul a thousand miles from lower Alabama to meet my X wife to bring her the rest of the stuff she left behind, the meeting place was the welcome center in Detroit at the Ambassador Bridge, My X wife was over 3 hours late coming from Mississauga Ontario Canada, so I had to wait at the welcome center all that time one of your employees a Tess Miller, made sure I was comfortable and even gave me a chair to sit on gave me a cup to fill with water and even offered me a part of he lunch, I observed he intereactions with others she was extremely kind and helpful, to the point of going above and beyond, she helps make this world a better place Sincerely Frederick Spica

Neutral post di needed to be in the area so used this for a direction point
I like Welcome Centers. I like them a lot. Whenever I pass a state line and one is near by I head right for it. I do not recommend this Welcome Center. It has all the basics – there is a public restroom on the first floor and there are piles and piles of magazines featuring wonderful things that you can do in Michigan – all of which, except for a handful, appear to be very far away from this particular welcome center. It is located very near to the on ramp of Interstate 75 – so, if you are already in Michigan it is very easy to get to. If you have just come in, however, you would need to drive past it for some distance, take an exit and navigate through some dodgy neighborhoods to get back to it. If you are heading into Canada then it’s a little more difficult to get to – but not much, just a little more difficult than it normally is. This particular Welcome Center is located in ‘Mexicantown’ – so, let’s say you’re coming from Canada and heading into the United States to enjoy your stay in Michigan – the first place you get to is ‘Mexicantown’. I don’t get it but maybe there’s a backstory I missed somewhere. The building itself isn’t just a Welcome Center. It’s got other commercial ventures in it. There is a Michigan Secretary of State so if you are heading into the United States you can stop by and get your Michigan Driver’s License in Mexicantown to save time – however, if your intent is to save time that’s not going to happen in that SOC Office. It’s nice to dream though. On the second floor of the building are offices for the Mexicantown Development Corporation or some thing like that. The offices run most of the building. Inside, at least right now, you would find one banner announcing that you had arrived at the Mexicantown Development Corporation and a sign that says the public bathroom is downstairs. That’s it.
It is strange to me that the Welcome Center has no weekend hours - nor posted hours. Does no one visit Michigan on the weekend? We were puzzled.
Great, easy place to pick up maps and travel information.
Clean and it's the first thing you see entering usa.
It appeared to be closed, but from the outside its VERY clean
