I had the Spinach lasagna from the lunch menu. I started eating it there and took the rest home for two more meals. Don’t expect fast food, they take time to be sure it’s done right. The place feels very much like an Italian family affair, homey and welcoming. Decor is a bit dated, but I wouldn’t change a thing. The only thing I’d change would be to have a heartier, more substantial type of bread. I’d love to return for a full Italian dinner.
Everything was cooked hot and fresh. I ordered the fried stuffed cheese olives. I expected a whole or ½ olive not pieces but it was good. The cheese sticks came with a sweet marinara. The Cajun pasta was good but not spicy at all. I ordered a Muffuletta as it is my absolute favorite sandwich but I was disappointed. The sandwich came with chips but I expect my muffuletta to have more meat. The pizza we ordered was fresh but needed something.
This is a Birmingham and Homewood staple. Some of the best pizza and Italian food around. The pasta dishes are DELICIOUS! The atmosphere is quaint and small in size, so plan on eating early or you're going to be waiting a while. The wait staff was extremely sweet and attentive. Vegetarian options: There are some great pasta dishes that are vegetarian friendly. Parking: Parking can be a bit of a pain, but you may be able to find parking across the street at the post office after it's closed.
Ok im from Out of Town but Birmingham is my home. I wanted some Italian food so I ordered. I used Door Dash and ya usually don't get all of your order with them. But I was fairly pleased. GARLIC BREAD Could have been more buttery and toasty!! Da meatballs were a perfect meal size! That pasta alferado,, I expected cheesier but oh and oh yea the noodles with the sausage .... they need 2b thicker, that angel hair pasta ain't cutting it
Wonderful experience!. Mariella was an excellent server. I really enjoyed the stuffed mushrooms. Added a sprinkle of salt and parmesian for extra flavor. Loved how generous they were with the cheese. Would have liked a little more stuffing but over all the mushrooms were great. The owner John was very hands on. He checked in multiple times to make sure customers were happy. He kept as busy as his staff, waiting on customers and answering the phone.
While in town for work I had 2 meals from here! One was the Mona Lisa pizza which was very good. Chicken Alfredo, again wonderful and a glass of wine. Our server was wonderful with the best personality! This place is a true gem. I very much enjoyed it.
Went for dinner tonight with friend. Very disappointed. To begin with my shrimp scampi was very dry. The waitress then brought burnt brown butter sauce to the table. It was oil base not butter, it was orange and it had some spice to it. Definitely not shrimp scampi. She said it’s exactly what they usually put on the pasta. Extremely unusual. I couldn’t and had no desire to eat it. The bread that is served with the pasta was toasted plain bread. They did not put butter or garlic on it. No flavor white bread. Hoping for more expected more, would not return. The waitress was somewhat sorely from the beginning as well. Really feel like this place has potential. My friends lasagna was good. Maybe I ordered the wrong dish?
Without question our favorite pasta place in town. We found them through doordash, and have been pretty reliable customers ever since. Generally once or twice a month we'll get pasta from them. And it has been fantastic every single time. Doesn't matter what we get, it has been fantastic. Love this place six stars out of fiveFood: 5/5
Small intimate restaurant! Great service, top shelf beverages, non alcoholic beverages also, modern decor, and have a variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Practice social distancing protocols. Food was delicious. Everything I ordered was served appropriate and at the right temperatures. Had the seafood lasagna first. On this visit, tried something new!
Crust is the exact same as frozen pizza! Cheese is good. Too many layers of pepperoni on top of each other under the cheese makes it soggy and slimy and pepperoni almost undercooked. Practically speaking, pepperoni under the cheese creates a fat layer that encourages the the entire cheese layer to slide off on your first bite which is what happened and doesn't allow it to be cooked enough to bring out the real flavor and only grease textures are left.
