My experience was much different than what it used to be. I used to come here years ago with my partner and the food was amazing!! I decided to stop in because I was in the area and my French toast was BURNED. I ask to just return it and take it off the menu they said I can’t get my money back. They decided to remake them for me and the picture attached is what they “remade”. It literally just tastes like toast with sprinkled cinnamon on it. My eggs were cold. I was told they’re sorry it’s a problem with the grill. I’m never returning the new management is HORRIBLE.
**cash only** Great little diner in the middle of Girard. Always passed it, but finally went in today. Omelettes are tasty and portions are pretty large for the low price. Restaurant itself feels like a 70s time capsule with its old wood paneling, countertops, and kitchenware. Has a nice charm though and will for sure be coming back!
Very nice, clean with great people place. I would consider it more of a diner than a restaurant. Judging by the conversation I overheard while I was waiting for my Cheesesteak, the neighborhood loves this place and the people that run it. $7 and it came with chips, you know I love that. Good crusty roll. Decent amount of good tasting meat. A lot of big chunk caramelized onions. Good amount of mushrooms, I do wish they spent more time on the grill. Overall very good experience.
the food arrives at your table cold they do not serve on time all the dishes together the most expensive prices and less food I will not return to this place anymore
Food is classic! Flavors are good and the menu is right! Breakfast doesn't have to be dressed up when it's 100% good. A nice diner filled with smiles and greetings. Northern liberties is known for lots of breakfast places but with this menu you know exactly what you're ordering. No funny nicknames just good food
Absolutely delicious! We came on a Sunday morning from NYC and absolutely LOVED every thing we had. The pancakes are spectacular and full of flavor as well as the waffles. The eggs were cooked to perfection, you can tell the grill is clean and not too hot where it over cooks or burns your food. We’ll definitely be back!
Firstly, the food here is next level. Literally everything was perfectly cooked. Crispy potatoes, meats that’s perfectly charred while not being burnt, eggs cooked to perfection. Yum. So good. The food is 5 stars. Now the bad. The service experience here would have been negative stars if I could give it. We walk in, there’s only 2 other tables being occupied by customers in the whole place. Despite the lack of customers, it took 10-15 minutes to get water/coffee as well as our order taken. Another 15 minutes go by when finally my girlfriends food comes out 10 minutes ahead of mine with her toast missing. We asked for ketchup and received an empty ketchup bottle. Finally, my food arrives after about 40 minutes and there isn’t even utensils on the table for me. While here, the table next to us got up and left after 15-20 minutes without so much as drinks on the table. The food was absolutely amazing though.
They are understaffed, at least when I went. The 2 waitresses were friendly, but unable to attend to all the tables. I saw a family of 4 wait for about 20 minutes before leaving when there were 2 appropriately sized tables waiting to be cleared. We waited 45 minutes after placing our order and seeing multiple parties come in and get their food before us before we finally decided to leave hungry. We were told there had been a mistake in the kitchen. I'm not sure if the kitchen was understaffed as well, or maybe the order never made it there. Obviously, this review does not reflect the quality of the food. The problem seems to be with staff management. I gave an extra star because the ambiance was nice simple, but good for a diner and the prices were reasonable.
This place was bad. No one had good service they were complaining when we got there. The grit's were soggy. My husband burger was sloppy and nasty. He sent it back three times. We used to go there all the time. But it has definitely changed for the worst. And the music boxes it was famous for are gone. Run away my advice
Went in for a pretty simple breakfast. Had good reviews. Waited a super long time to get waited on, food came out cold. Not only was it cold, it tasted horrible. The steak in the steak and eggs was more like freezer burnt jerky than anything else. Forgot my girlfriends toast after asking 3 times and only got it at the end with our check cold and forgot to toast it. The portions were also small for the price, it’s a relatively cheap place but the amount of food is so small. This was the worst restaurant I’ve ever been to in Philadelphia and probably the worst breakfast I’ve ever paid for. The waitress was kind I would say but they were a total mess for it not being that busy. I will never go back this place needs major changes I have no idea how it has good reviews.
