DiscoveryFEST Enrichment Program

I worked at a school through StoryVenture/Discovery Fest for 2 months and was never paid for my services. I have called, texted, and emailed Sean Tate to get in contact with him and his HR department to get my money, and neither he nor the people that he told me to email are replying. I would not recommend anyone to work for him nor any company that he is associated with Discovery Fest/StoryVenture.

Hi, my name is Nikisha. I really hope someone can help me or at least point me in the direction of someone who can help. I want to ensure no one else is taken advantage of, especially kids. I recently worked for a local nonprofit called Discovery Fest. The organization has taken advantage of its employees as well as the schools who sign on to have the aftercare program at their school. I worked with a man named Sean Tate. When I signed on to be an instructor with the organization we were scheduled to get paid for a month, 45 days after working. We get paid monthly and 14 days after the month worked. For instance, I worked the entire month of October, and was supposed to get paid November 14, 2018. I didn't get paid until the 28th of November. The following is a breakdown of why I didn't get paid until 14 days after the date I was supposed to be paid. I was unsuccessful in contacting Sean after several attempts. I decided to reach out to him about contacting the media about withholding my wages as well as a few others. He immediately gave me a bunch of excuses. I basically told him I'd exposed his shady practices if he didn't pay me. Immediately I received a response. He told me he'd write me a personal check. I spoke with several colleagues and this is a normal practice for the organization. Sean frequently holds the employees wages. He waits until he's basically threatened with being exposed before he pays his employees. I've also spoken with colleagues who didn't get all their wages or not paid at all. I decided to part ways with the company. I was due for one last check, but of course I have yet to see it. I'll explain in further details below. A month later. I was due my final check on December 14, 2019. I have yet to receive it and have reached out to Sean without any success. Mr. Sean gave me a bunch of excuses as to why I haven't been paid on December 22, 2018. I tried reaching out to him, but of course once again I'm unsuccessful. I told Sean I'd go to the media as well as seek an attorney. I don't want anyone to get taken advantage of by him, especially the schools who give this man money to pay instructors to do an aftercare program. This man is taking advantage of not only adults but kids. The hardest thing for me to do was walk away from the kids I adored. I work with children because I want to make a difference. It breaks my heart this man and his organization is withholding money from his instructors they worked for. Some of the instructors are college students and parents so every dollar counts. No way should this man be able to continue to take advantage of people.
