Very authentic Japanese food served with a condescending attitude. If I got this kind of service and the food wasn’t so great, I would give it one star. But, the food is very good. If you’re new to the Japanese dining scene, this is not a sushi place although there are several sashimi and other raw seafood dishes. They have an extensive menu with something for everyone. It’s a great place to meet after work or for a night out with friends. It’s tough competition for seating at the bar. The prices are reasonable and you get a 10% discount if you pay cash. I highly recommend it despite the negative attitude service.
The atmosphere of this place is a 4.5/5 for me. The food is a 4/5 I liked it!. If you prefer a place that tastes more "home cooking" style, then I think this place is for you! The food was good, but not amazing. However, I will definitely come back for more because the atmosphere and vibe is great. Plus, they have a giant frosted 25oz pint of Sapporo for $12! Seriously, go here and try the food!
Classic izakaya-style restaurant with Japanese comfort food and drinks. I've come here many times, and everything on the menu is great, although my favorite is still the katsu curry. Combined with large, frosty mugs of Sapporo beer, and it makes for the perfect evening. My only recommendation is to, if at all possible, try and get seats at an actual table in the rear. This can be difficult since it gets crowded during peak hours, but the seats in the bar side of the restaurant get uncomfortable pretty quickly.
Food was great here! Had dinner with a friend, we had the beef bowl and the yakisoba wrapped in egg omelette. Place seemed a bit overwhelmed by people but service is good. There is no tipping which is very nice. I would come back again.
Great dishes, great presentation, great prices, great service. There really isn’t anything not to love at this place. I had the roasted duck with a side of rice and a Sapporo beer. Duck was amazing and tasty. Sauce and veggies under were perfectly seasoned. Typically the sauce is either too salty or too sweet but this one was just perfect. Fluffy rice that you only get from a thorough wash and perfect timing. It was served with a couple other things that I honestly had never seen before but really brought out the best in the duck. 5/5 stars all around.
I was here for a quick lunch on a Friday, and the food was okay. However, compared to the meat ans katsu, there were too much rice to the dons. I hope they can balance it a bit! Their beer was the best, because it was delightingly cold and crisp.Dine in: Yes
Here is one of the rare places where you can get very authentic Japanese food in NYC! I really love this place especially their motsu nabe and taro croquette, those are amazing! But I have to give them 4stars because the service was mediocre.. they actually threw plates on our table, being super grumpy for some reason.. It was unfortunately very uncomfortable. Also, they started requiring cash tip so you need to bring some with you.
I visited during dinner time on a Wednesday, and although it was full of customers, the wait wasn't long. The food was good overall, but the teriyaki chicken was worse than expected. The tip is already included in the price of the food. It was okay because I was satisfied.
Found this place for dinner on a Friday night around 630pm before catching a Broadway show. There was a small line but luckily I got a seat right away at the bar being on my own. Good vibes! Good service by Japanese crew have been used to a lot of Korean-owned Japanese restaurants being from Vancouver.Food: 4/5
Good service and fairly priced tasty food. The most redeeming quality however is the ambiance. Warm lighting, comfortable seating options, and spacious. Reminiscent of an Irish tavern but with Japanese influence.
