I now know why a hotel located in the heart of the financial district is priced $100 below competitors. The Doubletree is in a great location at the southern tip of Manhattan, and the service is friendly. However, the hotel is rather tall and only has three elevators servicing nearly 30+ floors. That creates incredibly long wait times for an elevator. So if possible ask for a lower floor and make the stairs your friend. The rooms were clean the beds were very comfortable. Another complaint is in the bathroom...they've been recently redone, but there is absolutely no counter space, and I mean NO counter space. None... The raised sink allows for between 3 and 4 inches on either side and a small shelf above the toilet allows nothing wider than two to three inches in diameter. That means there's no place to leave a towel or even place a towel and no place to place your shaving kit or makeup. The mattresses had a nice thick pad that offered great sleep and there was little street noise from below to disturb you. You're also within a 2-minute walk to the Running Bull and The Fearless girl in front of the New York Stock Exchange. Battery Park and a boat ride to Staten Island is right nearby as well. All in all, I rate the hotel a B to B+. If they could only add another elevator and add some bathroom counter space, I'd make it an A.

It is a hidden gem. Great room and welcoming staff also helpful. Restaurant has good food and staff with great customer service. Perfect location and tasty cookie. Wonderful stay and nice price.

Great location. Great price for financial district. Elevators take a while, but I noticed staff helping out by using the service elevator as well. Venetta at the front desk was great and helped me swap rooms to get something with a city view. All in all good experience.

So stayed here for 5 nights. First of all the staff were very friendly and helpful. Hotel is very close to R,1 and 4,5 trains as well as the statten ferry. The room was slightly dated and could do with some minor husbandry bit was cleaned daily to a high standard. Overall was good. Breakfast was basic but very much adequate.

Very good situation, we had the underground and the ferrys very near the hotel, perfect to move fast across Manhattan. The service and the people were good, but the hotel is old and the views are not good. We book a room with views. A lot of noise in the the room by a roof fan near the window. Small room for a 4 star hotel. Recomendable only if you take an offer in booking, if not, it is to expensive.
