I took delivery of a DR lawn and leaf vacuum about a week ago and have been unhappy with several aspects of the shipping. I had the unit shipped to a local FedEx depot for pick up. The product is shipped in a large cardboard container loaded onto a skid..Based on DR's videos for this product (which are done quite well), the first step in unpacking is to "cut the bands" wrapped around the container. When they brought the container to the loading dock, the cardboard container was split at the seams and there were no wrapping bands to be seen. Fortunately, there appeared to be no damage in shipping. I had to secure the container with rope in order to get the unit home in the back of a pickup. Upon unpacking the unit, I discovered that the parts bag for the power unit and a support strap were missing. I contacted customer service and two day shipping was promised. Parts bag showed up reasonably quickly but strap is MIA. Called back and they said strap was back ordered and should be in 'in about a week'. I should have been advised when I made the original contact. During assembly, I found out that another part was missing and had to call that in as well. Dealing with DR's customer service is kind of sketchy...long wait times and friendly but seemingly inexperienced service reps. None of these items were a huge deal but the lawn and leaf vacuum has many different components and parts and I would have expected a better quality control process. I have yet use use the machine but I hope its performance is better than the shipping/packing process. By the way, on a scale of 10, my mechanical ability is about a 4. If you are similarly challenged, pay attention to the videos. They were quite helpful.

I bought a 14 HP DR brush mower 26 years ago for use on my farm. It worked okay for the most part. It wasn't really quite powerful enough to handle the brush and saplings I have, but I got through it okay. There was a transmission issue that for some reason wasn't fixable by any authorized dealer I brought it to. The problem is the transmission never quite goes into neutral, so sitting still is a bit of a problem. It was certainly usable, as it was mainly annoying and noisy. This however isn't why I'm giving a single star. The engine finally blew on this brush mower, so I decided to buy another new brush mower online. I noticed they offer 0% Financing and I wanted to take advantage of that. So I created an account and started the buying process for the 20 HP brush mower for $3600. At this point I'm thinking $3600 / 24 months = $150 / month. That's perfectly doable. However that is quite deceiving. In taking advantage of this 0% financing, you are actually applying for a high interest credit card from Syncrony Bank. So I paused the buying process for a moment and decided to call DR and find out how this works. I spoke with a very nice gal in customer service and asked her how this worked. She didn't know exactly and said she couldn't discuss "money.' So she checked with her supervisor and read me the list of stipulations of using this 0% financing. After a bunch of word salad, the end game as it was explained to me is you pay %4 per month of the total purchase price of the unit on top of the purchase price divided by 24 ( in this case ), plus a $150 "Promotional Fee" at the end as the last payment. So, doing the math you end up paying slightly more than double the price of the unit. 0% financing... uhu... Part of the word salad was justification as to why this wasn't considered "financing." I found this difficult to believe as this didn't seem like the DR I dealt with 26 years ago. Come to find out, Country Home Products was purchased by Generac Holdings Inc in 2015. So they're no longer the mom and pop shop they used to be. Take away from this what you will. But this has left a bad taste in my mouth, so I'm purchasing a bit heavier duty brush cutter from a different manufacturer.

This review is not due to their product but rather due to the lack of customer service. I never take the time to leave a negative review but I emailed THREE different times inquiring where their rough cut mowers are manufactured and not one response. Ended up buying a Kunz, who had awesome customer service, and I won't look back at DR's inferior product. Check out the build specs!
