Waited 3 hours.... I’ll say it again: 3 hours with my one year old and the advice I got after all of that was terrible. My appointment was at 1:20 I got home at 6:30 pm ... all for nothing. When I called for directions they gave me directions to the wrong office - no worries they said we will still get you in. My baby was starving, I ran out diapers, I was frantically trying to get someone to pick up my daughter from school. I Was charged a late fee from my older daughters school and had to make my husband leave work early to get her. It was so terrible. I wouldn’t have waited that long but I had waited weeks for this appointment and was hopeful that it would help. The doctor told me everything I already knew. She suggested that I shouldn’t use baby wipes on my daughter and just use “a wet towel” later a quick google search revealed that there are wipes called “water wipes” available at all regular retailers that you can use but apparently my doctor had never heard of that. Such a waist of time and money.

waited over a month for our appointment and when we were finally seen she was in the room maybe 5 minutes. She gave me no answers and barely look at my child's rash. I was very disappointed and it was a BIG WAST OF MONEY AND TIME!

I don't know if it's because I have different things I look for in a doctor or not but this woman and her staff are phenomenal . My son was seen by 2 different dermatologist that gave us two opinions on opposite sides of the spectrum with no answer in sight . We had no idea what this mark/rash was so my primary care physician recommended going to see Dr. Vanderhooft . We had to make our appointment over a month out, which sucked because we wanted answers but that's usually a good sign for doctors. We made sure we left a time window to get there, find parking and extra time if an accident had occured while we were on the road . The front desk staff was great, and the nurse was really warm and nice even so early in the morning . She got us in the room and went over everything nurses usually do, then we were asked questions by a young man who I can't remember how he helps the doctor, then they both went and got the doctor. The second she walked through the door she greeted us kindly, took a look at my sons problem and immediately knew what it was, yes that fast. We told her about our other encounters and aside from one she didn't think that doctor had been entirely wrong just wasn't quite right but didn't discredit the prior doctors like some do. She and her staff then talked about what was to be given, she put notes in the computer and listened to our questions and was out the door. The whole visit was maybe 5-10 minutes long. We got told to use over-the-counter lotions until he would be older to get surgery to remove it because it hasn't finished growing, and we got papers on preventing skin cancer. If you look at reviews on her, here and other sites. It makes her seem like a cold, uncaring, know it all doctor who just flies from patient to patient . I'm not saying they're wrong, But for us it was indeed a fast visit, because she has been doing it for so long and is just a confident doctor. I would say just go in for yourself and see what you make of her and the staff .

It's been a while since our appointment, but the visit still sticks out to me, because of how we were treated. My newborn son had a large mole when he was born and we were told by our PCP to get it checked out by Dr. Vanderhooft. At the time we didn't know any better so we made the appointment. When we finally got to see Dr. Vanderhooft she was extremely rushed and not helpful. She made us feel like idiots wasting her time (which we were, but like I said we didn't know better). As young parents a little reassurance goes a long way. Won't be going back.

Don't trust her with you kids!! Her methods of treatment are aggressive and dangerous. Not to mention her terrible bedside manor and disregard for the patient or family.
