How have I lived so close for so long and never been to this wonderful gem of a restaurant! Had the Dinner for 2 and could not believe how good everything was. The appetizers that came with it were fantastic, and you chose whatever main dishes you want. New favorite place! and the main dodge photos were after we had our first serving!
Ordering online was easy, though there wasn’t an option to take stuff off. I simply left it in the special requests to not make. When coming in, it was made very quickly and the lady up front was very nice. Very inviting as well. My food was piping hot when I got home to enjoy it and I was amazed on how much food I got. I spent $25 with tip and am satisfied. With my tiny stomach, I think I’ll have enough left overs as well. I had gotten Sesame chicken not spicy- very good. Perfectly cooked, sauce amazing and just as I asked if. I also got crab ragoons- this is typically the deal maker or breaker for me and I was very happy. The sweet and sour is a little more liquidy but still very sweet and sour. And they cooked their rice to perfection. This might be my new Chinese spot.
I love the food here. It's always so good. You get MASSIVE portions. Delivery is always prompt and polite. 5 StarsFood: 5/5
I Ordered Beef with Oyster Sauce. I received Beef and Broccoli. The sauce was a very thin beef broth type sauce, not at all thick like it should be. The Beef tasted and felt like it had boiled in the pan rather than being stir fried. This is not the first time I have had this happen. I have tried ordering this several times but no longer. My husband ordered the Combo Lo Mein Dinner which had hardly any shrimp. Very Disappointed with our food.
I have been going to Dragon House for almost fourty-five years, and have never had a bad meal once. Only thing that ever happened was, my meal had mushrooms in it, and I don't like mushrooms. But that was my fault for not looking. So I just picked the few out. I go about once a week, but I call in my order, then go pick it up. I've never used delivery. I will continue going until I can't move, then I'll have someone else go get it for me.
Front counter lady watched my 5 year old put a quarter in the gumball/trinket machine in the lobby. The machine dispensed an empty capsule. I didn't even ask her to make it right. But her reaction to the problem was to say "oh, that's not our machine." Seriously?!? Too cheap to offer up a quarter to a little kid you watched get ripped off? Never getting another dime from my family. $30 for a cup of soup, order of crab rangoons and a meatless entree carryout was bad enough...
Menu lists iced tea, but when I tried to order it, I was told they only have hot tea, so I ordered Pepsi and was served a barely cold can. If I wanted to drink out of a can I would have stayed home, at least that would have been cold. The food tasted like it came out of a can. Egg rolls were like they came from frozen, rice was dry. Our "waitress" was on the phone taking orders and never once checked in with us! We wait 15 minutes to get our bill, when they didn't come back to collect payment after 15 minutes or so, we went up front to pay. Ugh! NEVER again!
They don't speak English, they always mess the orders up, the quality of the food may be worse than the price... the only thing worse may be Hy-Vee Chinese food. Upsides? It doesn't smell like the place by Drake where they live upstairs and keep garbage cans full of baby diapers in the same room they cook your food and serve it to you in... Parking: Parking is okay but getting from the street into the parking lot may damage the undercarriage of your car. May need your truck... Kid-friendliness: lot's of traffic in random directions, keep them close. Wheelchair accessibility: IF you are trying to get between any two stores in this shopping strip you will get stuck in a pothole.
We ordered food for delivery. Upon delivery and starting to eat the food we found that the rice had a very sour/fermented smell. We also found plastic in our General Tso chicken. We called back to make them aware of this and we were told "well the rice was free anyway" and offered us a free crab rangoon for our next order.Food: 1/5
Don't waste your time, hunger, or money. I ordered crispy duck looking for something savory and managed to get burnt duck that was more bones than meat. The fried rice was crunchy and undercooked. I called management and was blown off, with the manager telling me it depends on who cooks the duck, and that's how they always do it. NEVER AGAIN, with a restaurant with no quality control and happy to serve an entree with half of it being bone and unedible was an awful experience I will always remember. Choose another place. You can thank me later.
