So I’m not one to give bad reviews. But Im unsure how this restaurant is staying open! I should have known something was wrong when we were the ONLY customers. However, I discredited that to the time of day 1:30pm. It was $28 for the three of us and it was “painful” to have to pay for food we COULD NOT eat! The server did keep our drinks full, though. My husband asked for Yum-Yum sauce for his sushi and was brought what was in the picture below. It was thick and had a gel like texture. He stirred the sauce thinking it might improve. It had an orange citrus smell. We are unsure what he was given nor did he taste it! LoL There was definitely a language barrier between us and the server. I personally could not eat anything other than the egg roll, spring roll, and wonton. This is by far my worst restaurant experience. The server was very friendly, but clearly they need a lot of improvement in the quality of their food as well as a deep cleaning. The bathroom not well kept. As I write this review, both my husband and I feel nauseous and our stomach hurts!
This is the first review I've written that I thought one star was too high a rating. Came in at 11:30 for the lunch buffet. Hostess POINTED us to a table to sit at. After trying various items from the buffet, I informed the waitress that the food was cold. She informed another member of the staff who shrugged and huffed, but went to the buffet and increased the temperature of the steam table. Went back to the buffet to try other items after about ten minutes. The lady restocking the buffet brushes me out of the way to put her food in the bowl. The waitress sat at the table next to us and complained on her cell phone half the time we were there. Awful experience.
Lunch buffet was terrific! Not a huge array of choices, but everything I ate was delicious! Definitely less "Americanized" than most, but that's a plus in my book! Hot Chinese mustard at the table was a particularly nice touch that I haven't seen anywhere in many, many years I noticed because I love the stuff! Your mileage may vary. I also asked the hostess, and she said the buffet selections do change from day to day, which I think compensates somewhat for the reduced choices on a given day. I will definitely be going back.
Not very busy at this lunch time visit. Most customers used buffet and takeout. Some food was cold- some just warm. Both pots of soup was just luke warm. I could not eat the soup, fried rice and some cold pork. The waitress asked if the food was hot enough. Had to tell her no and asked her to let manager know.If this is common I see why the place was not busy!
This place is great when it's takeout. If you dine in, the selection isn't the biggest or sometimes freshest which is why I only order takeout now. Inside could use some music but the staff is nice and prompt when refilling the buffet. As for takeout, they give you a good amount for the cost and it's always fresh. It's honestly my favorite Chinese take out! Their cream cheese wontons aren't the sweet kind either, which is what I like. Give maybe an extra 5 or 10 mins to their suggested wait time after calling in though. Yes, a lot to ask but worth the quality and quantity for the price!
June/18/2017 I visit all local Asian restaurants I can find. I was concerned after reading the current reviews of Dragon Palace i was a little worried. However they were completely unfounded in my experience. The selection was small but its a small restaurant. It had all the important dishes; sesame, Teriyaki, and General Tso's Chicken, Shrimp fried rice, Egg & Spring rolls and a few desserts, Banana Pudding and various ice creams. The food was not cold at all and there was always plenty of food put out. The reviews spoke of quick refills however the entire time I was there my drink was refilled once. It wasn't that bad to be honest. And the price was absolutely unbeatable. $8.00 for a buffet.
There are new owners. At first I didn't care for the way the place was being kept by the new owners. We went in the other day and things are improving. The food is much better. It is much cleaner than 6 months ago, the last time we had been in to check out the buffet, since the last owners left.
Upon making my first and only plate from the VERY small buffet, I sat down to eat. I found that over half the food on my plate was cold, not warm, like left in the fridge overnight cold. I immediately stopped eating and went to pay to leave, this was a big mistake. When I asked to pay I received no receipt and I was charged $29 for 2 terrible cold plates! They thought they deserved 30 dollars for that. I will never return to this resturaunt. Please be aware of this and pay attention to how much they charge you! Basically stole my money...
The food is good, not great, but not bad. The buffet is good and it is a good value. The real deal, however, comes in the carry-out. They load you up! I am 6'3", 300lbs - so you know I can eat. One carryout order is two, sometimes three meals for ME. Best bonus in Brandon, MS - its not fried chicken and cole slaw.
I liked the food and the women serving us was kind. Although I do suggest that they fix some of the interior designs to create a more comfortable environment. Other than that I really enjoyed my time and it was not at all noisy, which I love.
