I've been going here for the past 3 months. I started my locs here. I feel welcome at home and everyone takes care of me well. I get seen pretty close to my hair apt time. They are all knowledgeable and answer all of my questions. There is always music playing or conversations to be had. They're a little pricier than other places I looked up, but well worth it for their quality of service. I always leave feeling so happy and confident about my hair.
I travel from NYC to Philly just for my hair and this says a lot since there's amazing locticians here in the city. They're quick, knowledgeable and so good at what they do. David is my favorite with coloring and I honestly can't narrow down who is my favorite stylist here. I've gone to 4 people and they've made my hair consistently look good. My styles last a long time and they've been great enough for press engagements. Always worth the trip.
From the beginning of my appointment, Ms. Kim receptionist was absolutely pleasant and professional! David, the stylist was skilled, knowledgeable and extremely patient with me. I love it there! All the staff seemed to be so kind! Can’t wait for my next appointment!
I did a lot of research on locs and local shops before starting my journey but no matter where I started, all roads kept bringing me back to this shop for two reasons: 1 Website was informative, user-friendly, professional and transparent and 2 100% dedicated to the Art of natural hair care. I have had four appointments and on each observed that the stylists are friendly, professional, knowledgeable and extremely gifted in their craft. The shop is beautifully decorated, clean, organized and efficiently managed. They have adapted well for COVID including mandatory masks, temperature check upon entrance, stations are socially distanced and areas sanitized between customers. I definitely feel comfortable and safe while being serviced. The reception area has never been crowded with waiting customers but the shop is always busy, so I feel it is their business practice to not overbook and ensure every hairstylist is on-time with appointments. The positive energy in that place is amazing - not only in the interactions with customers but also with how the stylists and other staff interact with each other. It is refreshing. I had not been to a hair salon of any type in a good 15 years so I was hesitant from the door, but from my initial consultation to the install and subsequent services, I have been extremely impressed. My hairstylist is Chyna and she is fabulous. She is pleasant, talented and FAST - installed my micro locs in less than 5 hours - honest.... and they are beautiful. She was and continues to be patient with my questions about the “process” and she always explains things so it makes sense to me. I’m excited about my journey and truly happy to go through it with Duafe Holistic Hair Care. I highly recommend!!
I don't trust many people with my hair, but I truly had a great experience at this salon. My consultation started ON TIME and I met with Ms. Lorraine, who is very kind and attentive. They happened to be able to squeeze me in for an appointment right after! In my experience, even Black/Natural hair salons can be discriminatory with different hair textures especially if you have type 4/tight coils. This was not the case here, it was a very positive atmosphere. Whitney did an excellent job with my cut and palm rolls. You know you're in good hands when your stylist is super excited about what they're doing with your hair and really care about your hair's health beyond the requested style. Such a warm environment, I will be coming back here and I highly recommend it.
Everyone who works here has such beautiful locks and styles so I was optimistic but I unfortunately did not have the best experience at this salon. I scheduled a consultation but when I arrived at the time, it appeared that no one was aware of it. An employee was pulled aside and asked if she had time to do it and she was very pleasant and polite and we talked about my texture , issues, and what I hoped to achieve. We discussed a wash, palm rolling for a touch up and price. At booking I was advised there was a last minute cancelation for tomorrow morning and gladly took the slot as Ihad a wedding the next day. When I arrived in the morning everyone was polite but I was informed by the stylist that palm rolling would not take for my hair texture and that the recommendation was interlocking. The price difference was huge from an $80-90 style to an over $200 style. The washing process was very relaxing and nice but the baking soda dried my hair out waay too much and there was left over white spots from the baking soda. In the end bc of the change from palm rolling to interlocking, the stylist had to rush and I did not get a style as desired for the wedding I was attending later that day. I haven't returned since except to purchase the beautiful jewelry and heavenly body oils sold here. It took a long time for moisture to return to my hair, it felt so dry and brittle and I was unfortunately disappointed with my experience here. I tipped generously but was not happy at all.
I took my son to get his Dreads started, my son is intellectually challenged and has Autism. My son was handled with excellent care and patience. I couldn't be more pleased with the finished product! His hair looks amazing!!! Thank you Ayinde Jenkins for making this experience Great for my son and myself.
I'm a very new client to Duafe. So far I've been 3x; once for an initial consultation which my hair was evaluated and I was asked to show what I endeavored my locs to look like. I showed a pic and was told based on my texture, which method would work best. I immediately scheduled my appointment for the following day. The 2nd visit was the actual starter loc process. I was shampooed, and conditioned and then the 2 strand twist of microlocs was performed. Because my hair is shorter, and colored the stylist Kiya thought it would be nice to add perm rods to my ends to give it a certain umph. She advised me to not use any products before my next appointment, which would be in 3 weeks. My 3rd visit was yesterday for maintenance. That maintenance consisted of a dry wash and my locs were palm rolled. Because the curls from my initial install were still in place, the roll stopped short of the ends. Kiya also said it would allow me some length. The dry shampoo process consists of a combination of witch hazel, essential oil, water that's all I remember. All questions are answered if asked and everyone asks if you have any allergies before products are used. I love that! My next appointment is 3 weeks from now and I can't wait to see what happens then. I highly recommend this salon because every stylist is capable of doing the same techniques. So, for example, if "your" stylist isn't available when you want them, rest assured whoever you get assigned, will complete your request. I've been blessed to have Kiya scheduled for my 1st 4 appointments. BTW, it is best to schedule your appointment before you leave. I was able to schedule my 3 follow up appointments at the recommended intervals at the end of my initial install.
I love the energy of Duafe. The entire staff is pleasant. My hair stylist has worked wonders with my hair, the styles are creative and compliments my face. I love Duafe.Services: Hairstyling
When I needed to reschedule an appointment for a retwist and style they told me that it’s not possible and never even issued the partial refund on the deposit. Then after politely going back and forth the receptionist agreed to reschedule to Tuesday. Upon arrival it was found out that the receptionist removed the style from the appointment . Extremely upsetting, if you HAVE to use their services , be sure you deal with them face to face and request visual confirmation & a copy of your appoint details so you done get SCAMMED like I didService: Dreadlocks
