Duke's Lagoon

This was our 3rd trip to Hawaii and each time we go we always try to do new things and go new places. All 3 times before going my husband always talked about how he wanted to try to surf but wasn't sure because he didn't feel 100% confident in the water. We were walking through the IIikal Hotel looking around and found Duke's Lagoon. We walked in and Chris and my husband started talking and he immediately assured my husband that he could teach him how to surf and that he would have people in the water so there was nothing to fear. Me and my husband both signed up for surf lessons and are so glad we did. It was the highlight of our trip and we can't wait to go back and do it again. We both rode several waves and it was our first time ever surfing! I highly recommend going to see Chris and Misa at Duke's Lagoon if you want to catch some waves in Hawaii or just want to rent a surf board, paddle board or any kind of beach items. Tommy and Eric also in the water helping us were both great and we could not have done it without them! Everyone in the crew made us feel comfortable and gave us the confidence we needed. Also my husband rode out the first wave they put him on which made it even more special.

Chris, Misa and Robbie made our vacation! This is the place to go for surf lessons, rentals, turtle tours, and advice about the island they love so much. They are the best representation of the spirit of Aloha we have had the pleasure of meeting. They are super helpful, kind and generous and their love of Hawaii shines through. When we come back we want to stay someplace close so we can stop in again.

Duke’s lagoon is the best. Very nice people, they have the best instructor. They paddle for you and they get you into the best spot where you can surf with the good waves. This was my first time surfing with my wife and we enjoyed it so much. Thanks to the owners “chris” and his wife for treating us like a real surfers. Must recommend this place!

We decided to rent there because of their board selection fire wire torque walden Takayama NSP Stewart all really good boards. Chris and Misa are very knowledgeable about all the breaks. We are experienced surfers but first time in Waikiki. Chris explain the brakes, where it was safe to enter, where to watch out for coral reef. If you take lessons with them they automatically take pictures. we happen to be paddling out and Chris said if you surf here for a little bit I'll take pictures. They are all about the aloha spirit! Also, Misa make jewelry and I bought some very cute earrings!

Was referred to Dukes by Shane. Chris and the team were beyond friendly and courteous. Extremely helpful and informative. Rented SUPs and had a great time in the water. Would recommend hitting them up in the am when the water is glass and easier to paddle.

Chris, Misa, and Robbie were among the nicest people I've met. They taught us a very simple technique for our first lesson, and we both stood up each time. They took photos as well, which must be the second best part! If I could give out ten stars, I would!

I was totally new to surfing and Chris made me feel completely welcome to the sport. Nothing but good vibes and useful tips. He was also super accommodating to my travel schedule for getting me a board after my lesson. Eric taught a great small class with lots of encouragement and patience. I stood up on day one and they got me catching my own waves in one lesson. Definitely a great place to learn how to surf. I will absolutely be back and 110% recommend Duke's Lagoon!

Chris and his team will take care of you. I was staying on the Hilton property and ended up renting a paddleboard here. Easy to get to the shop because its close to the lagoon. Thought 2 hours would be enough, but it was so fun that I ended up doing a full day.

We stayed at the Ilikai resort and stumbled across Dukes Lagoon. One of the best experiences we had in Hawaii!! Chris and his wife are so laid back, helpful and kind. They gave us great deals on surfboard rentals and a paddle board. We kept the surfboards for week and my kids had the best time surfing and paddle boarding! Also, if you rent for several days, you can store your board in their shop or your condo. Chris gave my son very helpful advice of where to surf. If you do anything in Oahu, check them out! You will not be disappointed!! Wonderful experience and my kids made lifetime memories!!

Chris was incredibly generous and helpful when I rented a surf board from him for a few days. He saw me practicing in the water one morning and gave me tips and helped me catch some waves. He had his camera and took a bunch of photos of me. He went above and beyond and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend his services. Super friendly and a great person. Thanks Chris!
