It's a renovated version of an "old school" Omaha spot. The theme is British and the place looks pretty cool. We got breaded shrimp and sausage rolls as appetizers. The fried shrimp was amazing - you can tell it's hand breaded to order and it's fairly large. The sausage rolls are good but different - you have to remember - British, so the sausages are somewhat bland and the dough is light and flaky. Still tasty, especially dipped in the spicy mustard. For our meals we ordered both "World Famous" items on the menu - the Reuben and the Fish & Chips. The Fish & Chips were good - cod, hand dipped in batter and properly cooked. The Reuben was also good, but fair warning - they don't make their own corned beef - they just slice it there. Both items were good, but I doubt they're "World Famous" and definitely not what made this place a staple in the Omaha food scene before the renovation and new ownership. We were in a hurry for the Creighton game, so no time for dessert. Our server was nice and attentive - she did only have two tables. She made good suggestions and the food came out ina timely fashion and was definitely fresh and hot.
The Dundee Dell under new ownership is doing a fabulous job upholding the legendary name of the Dundee Dell. The fish & chips are just as good as ever, if not better - perfect crunch on the outside and a smooth buttermilk flavor, not greasy in the slightest. We also tried the sausage bites rolled in croissant dough - great appetizer with creamy mustard!
Their scotch flights are to live for! Paul has incredible knowledge about different types of whiskey and it's been so enlightening to get to try different kinds of whiskey from different locations around the world!
Great pie and service from Mathew but after further review and after telling Matthew my girl and I are both servers elsewhere and he did a good job he went pompous on us and acted like he was busy witch he was not. Cost and service did not match the atmosphere or neighborhood.Food: 5/5
Food was good, I ordered something that I shouldn't have but the rest of my family enjoyed the food a lot. Love the new build out.Food: 5/5
Recently remodeled, it has really been opened up, roomy. Nice wait staff, good music the night we were there, enjoyed the food
Excellent food and service. The fish was perfectly crispy without feeling oily. The homemade tartar sauce was out of this world delicious. I even dipped my fries in it, it tasted so herby and fresh.Food: 5/5
My husband and I had dinner here recently. I had the Tuscan Kale salad and he had fish and chips. Our food and drinks were very good, particularly the "Farmer in the Dell" cocktail!
Our kids really like this restaurant so we went on line to order a gift dinner for them to go. The on line ordering is not for the menu as it was set up for a fundraiser. One has to call the order in. Still very smooth.
It totally misses the cozy vibe you got from the OG Dundee Dell. It feels pretty sterile, and MAN do they crank up the lights, leaving absolutely no ambiance whatsoever. Both cocktails were extremely sweet and the candy garnish didn't help their cause. Maybe dim the lights and add candles to the tables for some much needed warmth and intimate vibes. Also more vegan options please!
