Our son has been in the school for 8 years, and he is now in fourth grade. We have had an amazing experience at Dwight. Excellent academic program based on inquiry and research, which enables students to develop strong analytical skills. Unconditional support on students' creations and innovation ideas. Access to wonderful teaching methodologies, including most innovative technologies, local and international trips. Unique faculty members with full dedication, who really help kids identify and develop their special abilities. High quality personalized education that results in having very happy and motivated kids.
Our daughter started at the 2's program at Dwight. She is now in third grade and loves this school. I have never met more of an amazing community. I have been actively involved with the school from the start. Their constant strive for innovation, academics and achieving is what has impressed me the most.
We moved from Brazil 10 months ago and, simply put, our experience at Dwight has been sensational! Our sons, 6th and 4th graders, felt welcomed, valued and inspired since the very first day. As a new family we couldn't have been more warmly received, we all made new friends and our 4 years old daughter is moving to ECD next September. The philosophy of nurturing each student's spark of genius is real and we could never imagine our sons having such unique, unforgettable experiences like performing at Carnegie Hall and taking part in an off Broadway musical in such a short period of time. Inspiring teachers and a variety of 'beyond classroom' activities and field trips not only have amazingly contributed for integration but also to keep the global perspective live in the day to day agenda. It was an amazing first year for our family in NYC and we owe it to Dwight!
We moved to NYC 2 years ago from the midwest and were thrilled to get all 3 of our children into Dwight entering grades 6,8 and 9. Dwight has exceeded all of our expectations. The kids were welcomed with open arms by faculty and the children. They have all three thrived in their classes, sports and extra curricular activities. They don't just talk about the "spark of genius", they really nurture it and help each child find it. My kids are doing things I only dreamed of them doing in. My 10th grader started a business and my 7th grader just went to Korea on a class trip. I can't say enough good things about Dwight and how much it has done to help grow my kids in such a positive way!
Choosing Dwight Global is definitely one of the best decisions in my life. I joined Dwight Global when I was turning into a senior. The faculty of Dwight Global cares about every individual student. With a small class size, teachers are able to assist you in every aspect when you need help. Teachers always respond to my questions promptly and provide detailed explanation. What I cherish the most from Dwight Global is not only its rigorous academics, but also the close and warm community that the students and faculty build up altogether. There are multiple engaging and interesting activities held for students and faculty to participate so that we get to meet up with each other! Dwight Global students are talented and hardworking indeed. They not only pursue their spark of genius but also their academic degree. We work hard and play hard! If time goes back again and again, Dwight Global would definitely be my decision every single time!!
We chose DWIGHT for its IB program and mother tongue instruction with native speaking teachers, guarantee of good academic level, but also guarantee of a smooth way back to our country ; the nice location was very attractive too! Actually, we’ve gotten much more: friendly and efficient application process, our son has been incredibly welcomed, everything being made to ensure a harmonious integration. The EAL tutoring allowed him to make fast pace progress in English, helping with acculturation and giving him support to adapt to the academic differences. On his side he was thrilled by the MacBook, the “new tech” approach in design, and the many friends from 3 continents. As parents, we value the close parent-teacher communication and the festive! multi-cultural community.
Hello. I am Pasha Solonin. I have been to four different schools so far and I must say that Dwight is a really good school for a few reasons. I spent a full academic year at Dwight 2015-2016and I enjoyed being in the school. Back then I was in seventh grade. Dwight offers great education in subjects like English, Social Studies, Math and Science. I remember that in English I’ve read novels such as The Tempest, Lord of the Flies, and The Outsiders. I learned about symbolism in the novels I’ve read. Dwight was a very welcoming school. This school has a great counselor who helped me solve the problems whenever I encountered them. There is only one concern I have for Dwight and that is the use of their QUEST program. In early November, my parents received an email where the QUEST program was offered to help me in areas where I needed help. My parents never gave a proper answer of yes or no. A few days later I was forced to go into the QUEST program against my own will and the will of my parents. QUEST program attempted to offer me support where I simply didn’t need it. That is the only reason why I hated the program. My parents later on revealed to me the price of the program which was as expensive as a year spent at Dwight. As days passed by the QUEST program was removed from my schedule, but it remained in school since then. I got worried about other students who might also fall into this trap. The QUEST program was used like a loot box in EAs Electronic Arts most disappointing video game, Star Wars Battlefront II. Another words the QUEST program was used in a greedy way. I am hoping that one day this program will either be removed, or becomes beneficial to students and helps them whenever they need help in understanding certain topics. I hope this explains all my thoughts on Dwight. I still think that it is a good school when it comes to its atmosphere and its fantastic education.
Dwight Global is easily a go to school for anyone pursuing their passions. I am constantly on the road pursing my dreams in tennis and the teachers are super flexible, giving extentions on work and staying in contact whenever I need help. The communication is lightning fast and it is easy to tell that the teachers care. Every few days we have interactive online meetings and with the small class size, it is easy to cover tons of information in an extremely interactive fashion. Dwight global definately offers some of the toughest content you can find online and are very adaptive to your needs, allowing you to take higher level classes if you desire. I love Dwight Global and would recommend it to anyone who is looking to pursue a good schooling as well as their passions and dreams.
I am Tracy Thomas Williams of the Class of '75, Franklin House. Someones earlier posting complained of school fees. I have never once regretted the monies spent by my paternal grandparents to put me through Dwight Or any other private school since Pre-K for that matter How much did they pay? Full price which is the same as todays cost in inflation adjusted dollars. No scholarship or financial aid, either. Dr. and Mrs. Thomas M. Williams, Ph.d., were prominent both professionally and socially. My grandfather took over management of the family business which was the Phenix Color and Dye Company at 284 Pearl Street. He was an analytical chemist who both won awards for his inventions and prospered financially. So they could afford Top Tier Schools like Dwight for me. It was money well spent. The school reinforced our family beliefs about defying the odds against success by way of excellence at something for which one has a talent. Dwightonians are currently celebrating 140 years of a remarkable history. It is a history tenanted by some of the most highlighted names of the past two centuries. It has been said of the 20th century that it was shaped by Dwightonians. It is Chancellor Spahn's ambition that the same shall be said of the 21st. Pursuant to this he has been developing a new leadership class forged in the crucible of his own remarkable personality. It is cosmopolitan yet parochial, meritocratic but humanitarian. As notable as the school's career has been in the 19th - 20th centuries under Dr. Spahn's 21st century leadership growth has been logorithmic in comparison. Recently an outside management consulting group suggested that this growth may be impeded by Dr. Spahn's hands - on leadership. I disagree. This makes as much sense as alleging that Apple's share value had been hindered by Steve Jobs's presence! A private school is run by force of character not by committee. Thats why no two private schools are the same in spirit. Fiercely independent in its thinking, the independent school achieves a societal impact disproportionate to its small size. So it is with trepidation I watch as the Chancellor loosens his hold on the reins.
This is our first year enrolling in Dwight's Global Online School and we have only positive things to say about their offerings. My son's outside activities demand maximum flexibility in his academic schedule, and the online school is accommodating to his work demands. Furthermore, their coursework is rigorous so strong academics are supported in the virtual environment. His professors have been very attentive and quick to respond to questions. Additionally, the online school offers support through standardized test prep, college counseling, and recent brick and mortar options at the Manhattan campus to include labs and extracurricular events. They strive to meet each family's individual needs.
