Dynamite Montessori School is an AMI accredited school serving children 18 months to 12 years old.
Our campus is large, and the children have many opportunities to observe wildlife as well as helping to care for our many animals. Following AMI principles allows our students to reach their full potential, right from the beginning of their educational lives. The staff is extremely dedicated and truly enjoy their work, and each class has a native Spanish speaker for at least part of the day.
Our toddler class is taught by Ms. Megan. It is in the process of becoming AMI accredited, as the rest of the school is, and will soon be accepting children as young as 12 months*. Toddlers focus on developing independence, control of movement, and concentration, following the Montessori philosophies. Toilet training is a major part of the program. Currently, toddlers have 30 minutes of Spanish instruction each day, with the goal of introducing a Spanish speaking assistant to speak only Spanish all day long.
We currently have two primaries guided by Ms. Deepali and Ms. Rocio. Primary students follow the traditional AMI Montessori curriculum and are additionally offered Spanish instruction and soccer. Each class is a three-year program serving children ages 3-6. Both classes have outdoor environments and include gardening, animal care, and cooking. Our most veteran assistant, Ms. Tina, assists Ms. Rocio and is working on her Primary training. She will hopefully be opening a third classroom next year. Ms. Deepali is assisted by Ms. Jenny, who has developed a "virtues" program for the classroom and also teaches Spanish.
Our elementary program serves children from 6-12 years and is guided by Mr. Dennis and Ms. Paula, assisted by Ms. Thania and Ms. Aparna. Ms. Thania teaches advanced Spanish classes and computer work. Ms. Aparna is working on her Elementary training during the summers. Elementary students have the options of additional tennis or music instruction outside of work cycle hours. They hike regularly and have a full kitchen for preparing recipes, as well as playing soccer regularly. Of course, they also follow the traditional AMI curriculum for both lower and upper elementary.
At Dynamite, we believe in whole child education. We nurture the child's sensory explorations and social development as well as more traditional academic pursuits in the Montessori style.
*We will enroll only one proficient walker between 12-15 months at any given time, starting in August. When that child becomes 16 months, another may be accepted.
Dynamite Montessori is a joyful place where children's spontaneity is expressed, where community is fostered, and respect is practiced. It is a safe place where the wonders of nature are discovered, and people experience kindness as the powerful force it is. Ours is a place where bilingual education is pursued, strong bodies are nurtured, lifelong friendships are formed, and the love of learning never wanes.
