The food here was absolutely terrific! Some places offer homestyle dishes like your mom used to make. This place offers homestyle dishes like someone else's mom made, and they're all delicious. My favorite was the shepherds pie, but everything they served was great. Wednesday nights are "buffeteria" style. They serve you like a cafeteria but you keep going back until you're finished. Non-members price was $16.95 which I felt was fair for the quality of food and service provided. If you want to try something a little out of the ordinary I highly recommend a Edelweiss! I'll certainly be back when I cost the area again. Call ahead reservations are recommended.
Amazing german food and wine, excellent service, and inlove all the German pictures, videos, maps, artifacts and decorations. This is our favorite restaurant for family celebrations.Food: 5/5
We started with fried mushrooms---very tasty and a surprisingly large serving. After that, I had a very tasty house soup while my wife had a somewhat disappointing house salad. Our entrees were Wiener schnitzel, which was wonderful though there was a tough bit that should have been cut out, and a sausage selection that was exactly what we expected from a German restaurant. Sides were horseradish mashed potatoes definitely recommend, German potato salad a bit sweet, but tasty, sauerkraut meh, and red cabbage good. We normally skip dessert, but were impressed enough with the food overall to get desserts strudel and German chocolate cake both of which were great. On top of all this, the service was very good. If you like German food, and are in the area, this is a great choice.
The atmosphere took me right back home. The food was delicious. The prices were average. The Pilsner beer was amazing. Every Wednesday is Buffet night with different food choices on the bar each week. Follow them on Facebook for their Menu. Homesickness was cured.....until next week
This is a german restaurant serving the core german dishes reliably and inexpensively in a German club. The staff are quite friendly and respond well to those who are polite and friendly in turn. I'm guessing those who complained about the staff were either irritable themselves from the start or caught staff during a very bad day. They serve buffets on Wednesday and Saturday nights so it's a great chance to see a selection of entrees along with some basic sides. This is not high cuisine but it IS decent food from a hoosier standpoint. Unless you hate sauerkraut and pickles, you'll find something you enjoy here. The restaurant is small, so definitely make reservations to ensure seating.
The dining experience at Edelweiss is outstanding. All the foods on the buffet were fantastic, especially the spatzel with cheese sauce. The service was on point with all three waitresses being quick to help us but never giving us the feeling that they were hovering. We tried the pilsner beer which was really good, but the star of the show was the dunkle. 10 out of ten.
This is truly a hidden gem! They have a dance group anyone can join; it's been very fun! Wednesdays at 7PM, except for the 2nd Wednesday each month. I have literally no dance background, but this is folk dancing, so that's fine Edelweiss is located in German Park at the end of the drive. The park itself isn't anything major, but the scenery is very nice. Once at the parking lot, you can go in the main entrance and down the stairs to the restaurant or follow the sidewalk north of the building where it slopes down and around the building to their outdoor seating. You can see a gnome garden along the way! I've seen comments saying this place isn't handicap accessible, but this sidewalk is the entrance to take if you have a wheelchair or stroller. Understandably, this will be inconvenient if it is raining. The outdoor seating is the beer garden area and the doors lead into the restaurant. On Wednesdays there is a buffet. I'm writing this review after a stop at their buffet and I'm impressed. On Fridays they have live music; simply amazing fun! They have several events through the year and I definitely recommend checking them out! Frühlingsfest, Jägerfest, Octoberfest and more! Through the year, they have several German events, including an Octoberfest. From what I hear, it's a blast! Additionally, a local Duolingo group has started holding language events here and, separately, there is a lady who gives basic German lessons in the fall. *Note* September 2022 - I'm not certain if these have started up again yet.
Awesome food and fantastic service, try the Curry Wurst. Also had the Ruben and pretzel.
It felt like having a meal at my great-grandfather's house. Wood paneling on the walls, dimly lit atmosphere, live music playing, and the food was like a call back to my childhood. If you are looking for good authentic German fare at a more affordable price, this is the place!
Heard a lot of good things about this place. My fiance and I came for his birthday dinner on Wednesday. The food tasted terrible. Nothing was seasoned, the sausage had a weird chemical taste to it, and the goulash wasn't even seasoned. Literally their only saving grace was the red cabbage. Complete ripoff considering the buffet was $16.95. For 3 people, the total came out to $60! I really wanted to like this place but I don't think I'll ever come back.
