About Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada has been in operation since 1941. This organization is dedicated to helping those who are less fortunate. Story For 76 years, the mission of Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada has been to serve those in need – the most vulnerable in our community, regardless of race, religion or creed. Today, through the support and generosity of foundations, grants, organizations and individual donors, Catholic Charities continues to operate programs, often with very limited budgets, to meet the incredible needs of so many, in so many areas. These five categories – Family Services, Food Services, Senior Services, Immigration and Refugee Services, and Homeless and Housing Services – are providing a wide range of human services and support, from infants to seniors. Programs such as the Emergency Shelter, Meals on Wheels Senior Nutrition and Adoption Services are lifelines for those in need. A community resource that offers help and hope and restores a sense of dignity as it strives to meet the diverse needs of the more than 100,000 clients we serve every year. Mission We provide food, shelter and comprehensive services and inspire our community through collaboration, recognizing that each person is created in the image and likeness of God, and that God’s compassion transforms lives. Products Family Adoption Services - Founded 1941 Adoption Services compassionately serves children by guiding, educating, and empowering birth families and adoptive parents through the lifelong journey of adoption. Social Services - Founded 1941 Catholic Charities Social Services serves families and individuals who find themselves in a crisis such as layoffs, family emergencies, or other unforeseen issues that have caused a setback in their lives. Depending on our available resources, we can assist with basic needs such as: emergency food, baby goods and referrals to other community resources. Phone: 702-387-2291 Homeless To Home - Founded 2004 The Homeless to Home Program helps those who are homeless with support to end the cycle of homelessness by helping them gain self-sufficiency. Each adult in the household must be willing and able to work a full-time job. Assistance is currently offered to families with dependent children under the age of 18 in the home. If you do not have dependent children in your custody, please contact Clark County Social Services Coordinated Intake to schedule a housing assessment at 702-455-4270. Phone: 702-387-2291 WIC Program - Founded 2005 The Special Supplemental Food Program for women, infants and children and women with high risk pregnancies, funded by the Nevada State Health Division, is to improve the health of eligible Nevada residents. Las Vegas WIC Clinic Phone: 702-366-2069 Henderson WIC Clinic Phone: 702-558-3129 Senior Services Foster Grandparent Program-Founded 2006 The Foster Grandparent Program provides special needs children inter-generational relationships with seniors. The program offers support to child victims of abuse and neglect; tutoring children with low literacy skills; mentoring troubled teenagers and young mothers; and caring for premature infants and children with physical disabilities and severe illnesses. Volunteers must be 60 years or older and meet income eligibility guidelines to apply. Phone: 702-382-0721 Senior Companion Program -Founded 1974 The Senior Companion Program provides a tax-free stipend to qualified volunteers who are willing and able to offer transportation and in-home supportive services to homebound elderly to maintain independence, comfort, and dignity in their lives. Phone: 702-382-0721 Retired & Senior Volunteer Program -Founded 1975 The Retired & Senior Volunteer Program provides volunteer opportunities to persons over 55 years of age. It enables them to bring their skills, talents, and experience to dozens of agencies in Las Vegas, Henderson, Boulder City, and Overton. Phone: 702-382-0721 Telephone Reassurance-Founded 1995 Homebound individuals, age 60 years or over and living alone, receive regular calls from a caring friend, giving them the security of knowing that someone cares about them and is ready to help in an emergency. Phone: 702-382-0721 Food Services Hands of Hope Community Food Pantry The Hands of Hope Community Food Pantry provides groceries for individuals and families in need. The program is designed to give clients access to nutritious food items to supplement their SNAP benefits and food budgets. Clients are able to choose among various produce, dairy, baked goods, canned items and frozen products when available. St. Vincent Lied Dining Facility -Founded 1965 The dining facility feeds homeless and needy men, women, and children nutritious meals in a clean and safe environment every day of the year. Phone: 702-385-2662 Meals on Wheels - Founded 1975 Meals on Wheels delivers a set of seven frozen, nutritious meals once a week, to homebound seniors 60 years of age or older. The meals are prepared on site and designed to meet the nutritional needs of seniors. Meals on Wheels service recipients with additional nutrition needs may be referred to our Medical Nutrition Therapy program for an individualized nutrition intervention. Meals on Wheels’ delivery drivers also make weekly wellness checks on our clients. Phone: 702-385-5284 Immigration and Migration/Refugee Services Immigration Services - Founded 1984 Immigration Services provides low-cost legal representation to indigent immigrants in order to safeguard human rights and promote justice for its clients. Phone: 702-383-8387 Migration and Refugee Services - Founded 1975 Migration and Refugee Services resettles refugees from all over the world by providing basic needs such as food, shelter, clothing and education. The goal is to help every refugee become self-sufficient, through employment, in the shortest time possible. Phone: 702-383-8387 Migration and Refugee Employment: Our clients come to us under the auspices of the U.S. Government. They already have proper immigration documents and employment authorization cards. They are highly motivated with an excellent work ethic.
