About Neighborhood convenience store specializing in your daily, basic grocery needs. Story Located in the Downtown, Treme/Lafitte part of Mid City in the 6th Ward of New Orleans, Busy Bee Food Store has been a corner store favorite of the community for nearly 16 years. Literally a block away from New Orleans' iconic Willie Mae's Scotch House (St. Ann and North Tonti) which was featured on the Food Network as having "the best fried chicken in America" and a block away from another symbolic New Orleans restaurant, Dooky Chase, (Orleans and North Miro) which current President Barack Obama and former President George W. Bush are known for dining at, lies Busy Bee Food Store. Across the street from the newly developed Faubourg Lafitte Housing Development (formerly known as The Lafitte Projects) this little convenience store has been around well before and after Hurricane Katrina surviving the looting, floodwaters, and chaos immediately following the storm.
