About Priestly formation in the Archdiocese of Milwaukee Story Saint Francis de Sales Seminary is one of the oldest Catholic seminaries in the United States. We have operated longer at our original site than any other seminary in the nation. Founded in 1845, over 4,000 priests have been formed at the Seminary, and 40 seminarians are enrolled for the 2014-15 academic year.
