About The Jewish War Veterans Foundation (JWVF) was created in 2010 as a way to directly give back to the veteran community. It is a 501(c)3. Story The Jewish War Veterans Foundation (JWVF) was created in 2010 as a way to directly give back to the veteran community and to support American active duty military personnel, as well as all honorably discharged veterans, and those who were physically and mentally wounded as a result of their service. However, its ideals and standards align with its sister organization, the Jewish War Veterans of the USA (JWV). JWVF focuses on helping veterans or active duty personnel go back to school after their service through the National Achievement Program. Over $5,000 in grants are awarded annually to applicants. The only requirement is proof of service and an honorable discharge. The Foundation also offers a grant program for high school seniors who are direct descendants of members of the Jewish War Veterans. Four National Youth Achievement Program grants and four National Achievement Program grants are awarded annually at JWV’s Annual National Convention. Mission The purpose of this corporation is to support active duty military personnel of the USA, all honorably discharged veterans, and the physically and mentally wounded as a result of their service. The manor of support can be either directly to the individual or to a Nationally Chartered Veterans organization or their Veteran’s service officers. All funds, whether income or principal, and whether acquired by gift or contribution or otherwise, shall be devoted to said purposes. The organization is organized exclusively for charitable, religious, educational and/or scientific purposes under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. All donations to the Jewish War Veterans of the USA Foundation are tax-deductible. Founded in 1896, JWV is the oldest active veterans’ organization in America. JWV is dedicated to upholding America’s democratic traditions and fighting bigotry, prejudice, injustice, and discrimination of all kinds. As a national organization, JWV represents the voice of America’s Jewish veterans on issues related to veterans’ benefits, foreign policy, and national security. JWV also commits itself to the assistance of oppressed Jews worldwide.
