About We are an open-admissions shelter for domestic animals and the enforcement agency for Title 17 Animals for the Municipality of Anchorage. Story Our shelter provides a temporary home to stray animals waiting to be claimed by their owners or homeless animals waiting to be adopted. We have an active volunteer force that helps exercise and socialize shelter animals. Animal control officers respond to requests for assistance regarding animals in need and to concerns about animals that might be a threat to public safety.
