About 826 New Orleans (formerly Big Class) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to cultivating and supporting the voices of New Orleans' young writers. Story Big Class's mission is to cultivate and support the voices of New Orleans' writers ages 6-18 through creative collaborations with schools and communities. We run a writing studio on St. Claude Ave. that hosts free workshops and homework help, and create in-school projects in collaboration with teachers that enrich writing experiences through publishing and volunteer support. Our work is grounded in the understanding that writing is at the core of a thriving community, and that student writing in a purposeful context can pave the way to a brighter future.
