About Provider of psychoanalytic training & low-cost psychotherapy services. Mission The National Institute for the Psychotherapies (NIP) is dedicated to providing psychoanalytic training for clinicians and comprehensive treatment for the community. Located in New York City's Columbus Circle, NIP was chartered by the New York State Department of Education in 1972 as a not-for-profit educational facility. Through a wide range of training programs and in an atmosphere of academic excellence, NIP provides psychoanalytic training to post graduate, licensed mental health professionals as well as graduate level professionals in other fields with an interest in psychoanalytic training. Our training programs are dedicated to enhancing clinical skills and personal development of our candidates within a supportive professional community. NIP's Treatment Center offers affordable treatment for individuals and couples and draws from a full range of psychotherapeutic and counseling services.
