About Novelty Gift Store Smoke Shop Story It was 2013 when an idea, in response to historic legislation within the state of Colorado, became a reality by providing a full service headshop to the RINO district of Denver! With the legalization of cannabis within the state of Colorado, the absence of a full service headshop in a hip, up and coming neighborhood (RINO) of Denver, founder and owner Damon Miller saw an opportunity. A need was to be met as there were plenty of cannabis retailers in the neighborhood (7 within 5 blocks of the shop currently) but not one headshop existed at that time. A symbiotic relationship with these dispensaries was formed as they dispense the cannabis, we assist with the consumption! The name of the shop comes from an idea to brand the building as the meadowlark building and make it a point of reference within RINO. The meadowlark lounge, located directly beneath the shop, was started by long time North Dakota resident, Loy Merck. A relationship was formed over many years after having met Loy through his nephew, also from North Dakota, Aaron. Long story short, asked if we could use the namesake as the name of the business. The number 64 is from the number of the amendment within the Colorado constitution that allows for recreational cannabis consumption among adults 21 years of age or older. Also, the western meadowlark is the state bird of North Dakota. Anyways, we hope you enjoy our store as much as we do!
