About Mémé Mediterranean offers excellent Mediterranean food, in one of New York City's hottest neighborhoods. Story Spices are very important in Mediterranean cooking, especially poivre rouge, or paprika. The paprika you taste at Mémé is made from red bell peppers grown on a small Moshav, or farming cooperative, outside of the owner's hometown. Mémé is named after owners Alon and Jacob Cohen's mother. Their neighborhood restaurant is family run with a menu heavily influenced by the north African region.
