About Cathedral Park Preschool is a certified eco-healthy Cooperative preschool located near the University of Portland in the heart of North Portland. Story We are sliding scale tuition based: Junior class (3 year olds): Tuesday/Thursdays 9:00 to 11:30 - $110-$130 a month Senior class (4 year olds): Monday/Wednesday/Fridays 9:00 to 11:30 - $130-$150 a month Part of what makes our school so great is the participation of our families which includes the following: Parent Helper Days: Each family helps in the classroom 2-3 days per month. During class time you will help the kids learn through play and also help with daily tasks and bring snacks (either a carbohydrate, fruit/veg, or water) Jobs: Each family will sign up for a job and do that job throughout the year. Jobs range from washing towels to finding parent meeting speakers to repairing dress up costumes. There is something for everyone! Parent Meetings: Throughout the year, we have mandatory parent meetings that include a speaker on a relevant, interesting topic. One parent is required to attend. Fundraising: We rely on fundraising to give our kids those extra special things, like field trips, classroom furnishings, and toys. In the past we have been able to purchase a portable sink for our classroom, new shelves for art supplies, new tricycles and upgrade our playground. Families are required to participate in two fundraisers and our annual auction. Mission Philosophy: As a cooperative, we provide an environment where parents and children can learn and grow together. Academics: We offer a social learning environment, providing hands on art, activities, music, literature and language. Objectives: Enhance a child's self image and concept of self worth. Help parents improve their own parenting skills and to increase their own self understanding.
