"Once called "The German Cathedral of the Lower East Side", Most Holy Redeemer-Nativity was the first New York City Catholic church to be consecrated, and its first Mass was said by one of the United State's first saints, St. John Neumann. MHR was merged with the Church of the Nativity in 2014, the parish of Servant of God Dorothy Day. MHR serves both English- and Spanish-speaking communities of the Lower East Side."
