The food was good, but the meat in the feta burger was a little over-cooked - it was good tho. They also subtracted the drinks from the price which was so great! The atmosphere was nice, and customer service excellent.
The flavors in the place definitely make up for some of the more technical flaws, burnt bread, dry meat but the service is what makes this place an easy trip. Genesis is incredible at what she does, and makes every guest feel at home, and even if something is missing from your order, she rushes to check in on you. Grateful for the experience, and definitely willing to go again.
Classic Greek foods served in unpretentious atmosphere attended by friendly guys. Both the seafood platter and salad we got were fresh and flavorful. I loved the pita breads served in advance to the main dishes. Would love to come back and try other menus and drinks as well.
Just straight up simple, refresh, good food. Service was great as well. We ordered the halloumi, greek sallad, moussaka, and bifteki. The fries could have been better.
Friendly and spacious, this place can easily accommodate large groups. The food is great,.service is friendly.
Seriously the best. We went to Greece in October and haven’t been able to find good Greek food in the city since. Hands down the most authentic and homemade tasting. Service was amazing and came out so quick. Will be back as soon as we can.
I’ve been to E Taverna a lot and I am very happy with the new owners at Ela Taverna. Odysseus was a good server and gave good insight on the changes. The Saganaki fried Greek cheese has been revamped and the Loukaniko Greek Sausage was simply spectacular. The Avgolemino soup was amazing as well and will warm you up on a cold day.
Typical Mediterranean hospitality, cozy atmosphere, great food and very friendly staff. All in all, a must visit Greek taverna.
This place was absolutely terrible. First, just before we ordered they decided to inform us they don't actually have their liquor license despite being called a tavern. Secondly, the food was atrocious. The greens were super butter, almost inedible. The grilled octopus tasted like it was dragged through charcoal. The lamb was tasteless, but crispy. The final straw was when the owner tried to tell me the high chair was assembled correctly after my daughter almost fell through it and onto the floor. Guys, i'm attaching a pic of how a high chair SHOULD be assembled. No food pics because it was the worst meal i've had in NYC. Ever.
The best Greek food with very nice atmosphere and very good service
