The Gateway Family YMCA is a powerful association of men, women and children of all ages and from all walks of life joined together by a shared passion: to strengthen the foundations of community.

With a commitment to nurturing the potential of kids, promoting healthy living and fostering a sense of social responsibility, the Y ensures that every individual has access to the essentials needed to learn, grow and thrive. Anchored in more than 13 neighborhoods throughout Eastern Union and Middlesex Counties in New Jersey, the Y has the long-standing relationships and physical presence not just to promise, but to deliver, lasting personal and social change.

Though the world may be unpredictable, one thing remains certain – the Y is, and always will be, dedicated to building healthy, confident, connected and secure children, adults, families and communities.

Mission

The Gateway Family YMCA is a community-based organization rooted in Christian principles and committed to building healthy lives through programs that strengthen the spirits, minds and bodies for people of all ages, religions and cultures.

Products

The Gateway Family YMCA - Elizabeth Branch offers a variety of programs and services. Here is a basic outline of just some of the ways we serve our community.

Child Care & School Age Child Care
With so many demands on today’s families and the increased focus on early brain development, families need all the support they can get to nurture the potential of youth. That’s why child care and early learning programs at the Y focus on holistically nurturing child development by providing a safe and healthy place to learn foundational skills, develop healthy, trusting relationships and build self-reliance through the Y values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.

Summer Camp
Day camps at the Y share one thing: they’re about discovery. Kids have the opportunity to explore nature, find new talents, try new activities, gain independence, and make lasting friendships and memories. And, of course, it’s fun too.

Health, Well-being & Fitness
Because we know that healthy lifestyles are achieved through nurturing mind, body and spirit, well-being and fitness at the Y is so much more than just working out. Beyond fitness facilities, we provide educational programs to promote healthier decisions, and offer a variety of programs that support physical, intellectual and spiritual strength.

Member Services
The YMCA of Eastern Union County's most effective way to strengthen relationships and member involvement is by engaging members (whether members as participants, volunteers, staff, partners or community collaborators) at all levels and all ages in program design, operation and evaluation. We provide opportunities beyond individual and family activities for members to become involved, serve and lead the YMCA. Our goal is to align member experiences with the mission and focus on character development and values, support for health and well-being, developmental assets and relationship/community building.

Social Services & Housing
To bring about meaningful change, individuals need ongoing encouragement and tools. We're here day-in and day-out to provide the resources our communities need to address the most pressing social issues: education, housing and substance abuse. We work to make sure every child, family and community has what they need to achieve their best.

Sports & Recreation
We believe sports, fun and exploring new interests aren’t just for the young. Along with improving health, whenever teamwork is involved, there’s the added benefit of being connected to others. That’s why you’ll find a range of recreational activities at the Y. With something to offer everyone, there’s no such thing as being too old to get in the game.
