Escapes Fence, Deck & Landscape

We were both very impressed with the performance of ESCAPES FENCE AND DECK. Dan and his skilled crew rebuilt two decks, and one porch and stairs in a period of thirteen days! They were professional, timely, cordial, and completed the entire project as promised. Their skill and workmanship was admirable, and they cleaned up their workspace completely. 5/19/21: Please note that I am a current customer of Escapes Fence and Deck.. I am writing a review in real time as the process unfolds to help others get a feel for my experience with the company. I have contracted for a deck build. The quote process was very quick and Dan was very responsive when I had additional questions. I have paid a deposit for the work which is scheduled to start June 21, 2021. I have an email 5/18/21 and a text 5/19/21 into the company and will let you know of response times to those. 5/19/21: Dan responded by phone and was able to quickly answer my questions. We discussed ordering of materials to ensure there are no surprises as things are backed up due to covid supply chain issues. 6/21/21: Today is the big day! Deck build to start. Materials were delivered today but they were not as specified in the contract! I rejected the order. This turned out to be the suppliers mistake not Escape's. ... The crew showed up today and started work on the foundation. Evan is the lead and super easy to work with. Initially setting 5 stars and I hope to give the same by end of this process. 12/17/2022: I had forgotten about this review, so this is over a year late oops. The quality of the build on these decks is fantastic, I couldn't be happier. The crew chief was Evan. He really cares about doing good work. One thing that I especially liked was that he custom built the metal post and wire fencing for the upper deck rather than using some cheap looking ready made fencing. I can comfortably stand by my 5 star rating for the work this company did for me :

They forgot the original date they suggested for fence instillation. I emailed them the day before that no one had been here to mark utilities, and they informed me of the new date that they would be here to rip out the old fence and put up the new one. They did not fully remove the old fence; they cut off the fence posts rather than remove them I should have read the contract better. The new fence has irregular spacing between the fence posts because of this. One of the fence posts is not pressure treated, and I am not sure if the boards are pressure treated. The bottoms of the fence boards are uneven, but the tops were cut to be even. Aside from the uneven spacing between the posts and the non-pressure treated wood, the fence looks nice. I initially hired them because I did not have the tools to remove and install new fence posts, I am disappointed that they did not provide this service.Service: Wood fence installation

I don't often write bad reviews, I'd rather spend my time on worthy companies. This experience however we the worst I've had in a long time- major lack of communication and nasty attitude. The crew who did the fence seemed careless and aggressive I could hear them talking as my windows were open. The fence had large chips in it, nails we're protruding, nothing was flush- it was just not well done at all. They came out and fixed their mistakes as best they could and I'm pretty understanding when people are new/untrained. That being said, I can't support a company who has an owner who berates and bullies their customers and employees. Don't chastise me for giving you feedback and don't "rip them a new one" his words beacause you misunderstood what I said and couldn't be bothered to clarify. The fence wasn't worth the money and aggressive emails. I've seen them do good work on a friend's fence hence the 2 stars but, my experience just left a bad taste.

I searched and searched, trying to find a company that I could trust. I decided to reach out to Dan and I am really happy I did. The experience was fantastic. The first thing I wanted was to add a covered porch to the house and I wanted it to look like it was a part of the original constructed home that was 15 years old. That is exactly what I got!! I was so pleased with the experience we immediately got a bid on a deck. After numerous estimates, to no surprise I called Dan to schedule the work. Even during the COVID-19, we stayed in touch and exactly as he promised, when he was allowed to go back to work he would get started on mine. Well, here I am, a week later, and as he promised it is done, even after my wife changed her mind 5 times. I would highly recommend Dan and his team for any job. I know once I have saved the money, I will make the call for a new fence.

We just finished having our fence replaced by Dan and his team at Escape Fence. Overall a great experience and we are very pleased with the quality of the fence we received. From start to finish Dan was prompt in returning calls and answering our inquiries. His prices are fair and competitive. During the construction of our fence there was an issue with gate placement. Dan came by saw the issue and quickly resolved everything to our satisfaction. Great service, great quality, and competitive prices. You will be please with this company.

Escapes fence built our new fence less than a year ago. Since then some of the fence posts have become loose and some fence boards are coming unattached. The fence is in an area that is not bothered by children or animals. The only reason this would happen so soon is poor construction quality. I am on the board of our homeowner association and was given a cell number for the person who supervised the installation. He was not responding to calls from our property manager. I have called twice in three weeks and left messages asking that he contact me about repair to the fence. I have gotten no response. I looked up their office number and have left two messages there. No one ever answers the phone and I have not gotten a return call. I could not find an email address or physical location. Do not use this company!

I'm the President of a small, 10 unit condo association, and we recently had about 400 feet of cedar fences replaced with Dan. Down the street from us, there's a nice fence with the Escapes tag on it, so I reached out to Dan when the time came to replace ours. We actually had a fence built only 2 years ago by an association member, but it was falling apart after the first windstorm only a few months in. Dan helped us identify a slew of amateur fence building mistakes: smooth shank nails instead of ring shank, 2x3 white wood railings instead of 2x4s in cedar, and posts not anchored deep enough in cement. He was able to give us a very competitive bid during the slower winter months. Dan got started with us a week ahead of schedule due to a roadblock in another project. Construction was quick, and the foreman, Olvin, was friendly and knowledgeable. Dan, who stopped by often to supervise the project, quickly and very professionally addressed the concerns I brought up in my inspection after the fences were complete. It was clear that customer satisfaction was his number one priority. This was the second job we've had Dan do and we have been very satisfied with the quality of his work and communication.
