We love what we do! We offer a layed back & relaxing environment. We ask that you arrange childcare prior to your visit to help all enjoy their experience.

Story

In 1997 Justin and Jessica Hunter purchased an existing salon in Portland's Old Port. They renamed the salon a year later in memory of their son, Ethan.


With over 15 years of experience in the industry and continuing education from places such as Vidal Sassoon Academy, and Toni and Guy academy , Justin and Jessica pride themselves on customer service, and quality cuts and color. DJ has been part of the salon team for 10 years now, giving her almost 15 years in the industry.She has advanced training with Brazilian Blowout smoothing systems, Wella, Lanza, just to name a few. And most recently Robin Littlefield has joined their team. Robin has been in the industry as a stylist for almost 10 years and has advanced training through Paul Mitchall.

Justin gave me the most beautiful haircut! After moving here I’d been looking for the right salon, and I have certainly found it. I asked for something easy that looked healthy and full on my thin hair, and he really delivered! It’s been super simple for me to style and it even dries beautifully without any help. It was my first cut with Justin, and I was late and upset about it. Justin was very gracious and spent time destressing me before beginning to cut my hair. No one has ever cut as he did. He didn't fight with my hair, just cut it as it grows. Now I don't have to struggle trying to get a style that simply isn't right for my hair. I don't need endless products unless I want to "dress it up" a bit. Justin is highly skilled and I am very happy with his work. I am so confident this cut will work that I have scheduled two more appointments. I must add he is an incredibly kind man, and he made me so comfortable, I felt as though I had known him for years. The salon has a relaxed atmosphere and is a truly pleasant experience. Do it!
I’ve been going to Justin for over 3 years now and highly recommend him! His professional hair cutting techniques are above and beyond. I’d always had such a hard time finding someone with actual professional training. Too many stylists merely attend cosmetology school and then try to get by on YouTube videos to continue their education. Justin is the real deal. Check out their website. Just got the cut of my life from Justin! This salon lives up to the amazing reviews. I'm new to Portland and had a couple of not-great salon experiences in town before finding my way to Ethan Hunter Salon-- and now I know I'm there to stay. I have VERY thick curly bobbed hair that I'd like to grow out, and Justin had a plan right away for me. He told me what he wanted to do, made sure I liked the idea, and explained things every step of the way, as he created shape/lightness without losing length and gave me a cut that I can grow out elegantly!
