If i were not high risk i would DEFINITELY go elsewhere. Patient load outweighs staff and it’s clear by wait times as well as constant unavailability to speak with staff. You can NEVER get a live nurse on the phone you must leave a message and wait until they can return your call and sometimes that’s not even same day. Things of concern stress you until someone decides they have time to call you back. Just wish i could find another high risk ob with more time for each patients care and concerns.
my midwife sent me here for my 20 week anatomy scan and the nurses and ultrasound tech i believe her name was Shana we’re all very nice and professional!!
If I could give this place zero stars I would. I went with my partner to discuss options for my awful period that keeps me from functioning for 3 days a month. Nobody told me until I was undressed that they were letting a male medical student in the room for my exam. I have PTSD and was so uncomfortable and froze up because it was sprung on me. That was unprofessional and not okay. I’m already sterilized so I don’t see why asking for an ablation was an issue. All of the things I wanted to discuss were an absolute no. Birth control was brought up multiple times even though I had said no to it more than once. At the end I was told we could try a prescription to help me get through the pain and keep functioning. I agreed so I could just get through for a bit. The doctor never even put that in my record so I can’t even get it. They act like a really inclusive space for everyone including lgbtq, BIPOC, and childfree people but they are not. I’m cancelling my next appointment and finding a place I feel safer and heard by my medical team.
I was referred here by my normal OB and have had such a bad experience that I’ve refused to return and will be continuing my normal care despite a minor abnormality found on ultrasound. My first ultrasound just a couple of weeks ago my husband was allowed to come because of the nature of the referral/appointment. After waiting for an hour after my scheduled appointment while people came in after me and left while I was still waiting we were finally seen. The ultrasound tech was friendly and informative but the doctor that was brought in afterwards for a total of maybe one minute was highly unprofessional asking us if, “we felt unlucky,” when we asked if the markers they found on ultrasound signified a larger problem. Upon leaving and making my follow up appointment for 20 weeks I was told I’d have to request permission for my husband to come like I did my first one but it shouldn’t be an issue. Because of this I cancelled the 20 week appointment at my normal OB that my husband was allowed to come to and always has been. I called to request this permission and was told “they don’t feel he needs to be there” despite the fact that this appointment is of the same exact nature as my last one. If you’re going to have a policy, stick to it. Don’t make exceptions sometimes and not others with no clear rationale as to why those exceptions are given or not given depending on the circumstances. Fortunately I’m able to seek quality care elsewhere but not everyone referred here has that option. This has definitely made me feel better about my decision to NOT choose EVMS for my prenatal care from the get go.
Recommended by my midwife, it’s obvious the receptionists don’t love their jobs. The child’s father isn’t allowed inside ridiculous. This may be petty to some but to me it matters: they don’t label the ultrasound photos so for the images that weren’t that good all but 2 the father who wasn’t allowed in can’t tell what he’s looking at. They don’t print off the ultrasound photos, i was told they don’t have the equipment to do that. What? I’ll never come back to this place, my reg OB is much better.
Worst staff ever I’m Now 6 months pregnant high risk and only had one appointment they are very unorganized I rather not follow up in pregnancy then to keep scheduling with this facility this includes the Norfolk location as well
I've had a really good experience here. I have mostly seen nurse practitioners who are fabulous. The nurses and the front desk person are also super sweet. They are overworked and honestly do a lot behind the scenes. I've personally have had spectacular prenatal care. NP Corbine, Stetzer and Graham are so attentive! Please take into consideration that this is the only practice that provides this type of care for thousands of women. You might have to wait longer than a regular GYN, but it's so worth it. I couldn't have had a better prenatal experience.
I was referred here by my OB after they detected an irregular heartbeat on my baby. Making the appointment was simple, the referral was sent on Wednesday afternoon and by Friday I received a call to schedule. The scheduler offered me a day and time and it happened to work perfect for me. I showed up at 11 for my 11:15 appointment and only waited maybe 20 minutes to be seen once I had filled out all of my paperwork. I was taken right back for my ultrasound, the two ladies performing it were very nice and accommodating. They explained everything they were looking at/for as they were doing it. They sent me photos of the baby on my phone which they made sure I received before I left. Once the ultrasound was complete she confirmed the results with the doctor and let me know everything was normal before I left. I would absolutely go here again and recommend it.
I haven’t been seen here yet, but I am already experiencing some issues i am not happy about! My OB sent a referral for me to receive my anatomy scan and after almost a month of verifying that i will be able to make my appointment i get a call late afternoon the Day Before to tell me my scan would have to be pushed out a couple weeks because i was not far enough. After explaining they had my dates wrong my appointment was stilled canceled! even after my OB verified i was right they still gave the same excuse! So disappointed So unprofessional... not sure if the ultrasound tech wanted to have an easy friday but don’t cancel my appointment the day before after having All my info for an entire month
My OB referred me here for a follow-up ultrasound during my second pregnancy. First, it took my OB contacting them twice and 4 weeks later I finally had an appointment. Second, when they called to make an appointment they gave me one option. When I said I wasn't available at that time, the person scheduling sounded annoyed and like I was being unreasonable. Third, when I arrived to my appointment I was 10 minutes early, and then ended up waiting for more than an hour. The receptionist was very nice and apologetic, but after waiting more than an hour she said there were still people ahead of me. I ended up leaving because I couldn't wait any more. What a waste of time! I schedule another ultrasound with them in 2 weeks...if I don't have the baby before then!
