So delicious!!! Went for lunch and though several items were not available, there was still plenty to choose from. The attieke — fried mackerel — was crispy, as was the chicken. Really love how flavorful and seasoned everything was. The beef samosas were huge. The crust was thin and perfectly fried, which paired so great with the umami beef filling. Be prepared for a leisurely meal, so set aside time. It’s not a place where you’ll be rushed out.
I saw many reviews about this place being slow but food being amazing, and my sister and I had time to kill so we decided to go for it. We were not disappointed! We got the fried rice with chicken and then the banku, I believe. We really wanted to try the peanut butter soup and a couple other things but those are only served at dinner. Contrary to reviews, our food came out fairly quickly. Possibly because we came at lunch when it was not busy? It was hot and delicious. The red sauce paired with it was spicy; I absolutely loved it. The cucumber salad was very refreshing beside it and they each had their own different type of dough. We had plenty for leftovers. It is a little pricy but with the amount of food and preparation I don’t mind. I would love to come back!
We LOVED eating here! Portion size? 100% Taste 10000% Everything was 100%. Bummed that it’s hours away but so so worth the drive. Will be dining here again when we drive through this part of town! Everyone was friendly to us, too!!
While the food is absolutely delicious, as noted in other reviews, the service is EXTREMELY slow. We got our appetizers within 15 minutes, but our main entree did not arrive until an hour after we had ordered. Fortunately, the restaurant made an appropriate price adjustment to make up for the long wait. I otherwise loved the jollof rice, plantains, and peanut curry. Just be warned to expect a long wait, even if you put in your order to go.
It was a great experience and I loved it. My babe surprised me with this west Africa food I missed so much. I will go there again and would recommend it to anyone that wants to try African food.
I go here for the vegetarian jollof rice all the time. It's always been bomb af. Its not spicy unless you use the sauce in the plastic container. I also ventured out to these puff puffs which came with this spicy sauce. The combo together was delicious. Oh and unless you're eating there though, make sure you order ahead of time to avoid the wait.
Wow we each got something different and shared some of everything, it was all so delicious! Great people working there and amazing food! Will be back with more friends!
The food here is worth the wait! I stop in frequently and never leave hungry. Love the jollof, kebab, mango cucumber salad, and the various stews/soups. Amazing!
I've been coming here for a few years and I always spend over $150. They are a unique restaurant and there's not any other restaurant serving West African cuisine so I try to patronize it and ignore the flaws in service. But the last couple of times I've come the food has tasted burnt and lots of palm oil inside to where I have to drain my soup before I eat. Even with the price increase of $24.50 for a little container of soup, I supported. But burning food is unacceptable. Please do better. Everything taste just inedible. Burnt or too much salt. I also believe that they are serving frozen food or reheated food from the day before. I'm fed up. The community always shows love. We deserve better !! EDIT: My 4 goat meat stew was not goat meat but just regular beef. Also other ethnicity eat pepper. When we ask for it why give us a cup full of burnt tomato? We don't want to dip our puff puff or samosas or plantain in tomato. Give us real pepper like what is supposed to be served in the cuisine. Update on 9/28/22: I decided to try them again after 4 months of not coming. I dined in and carried out. The meat pie and puff puff was so good. The snapper was fried to perfection. I got 2 goatmeat stew, 2 egusi, 2 peanut butter, 2 okra and 2 cassava leaf. I love June. He has the best customer service skills ever. Liz is so beautiful and friendly. Great customer service. Great improvement. Well done
African food is my favorite cuisine, but it’s rare to find a restaurant that specializes in this quality. but the food was exceptional and very tasty! However,be prepared to wait at last 40-45 minutes to eat. Customer service was excellent though, the waiter was extremely attentive! Very reasonable prices. I definitely will return for another hearty meal.
