If you're a donut lover this spot is for you! I am personally a yeast donut fan so I was disappointed they did not offer any except cake donuts but they offer a wider variety of decadent donuts like banana pancakes and baklava! We opted for the banana pancake and I didn't think the flavor was fully there. We did try a bit of our friends baklava and that is a highly recommend flavor! We also got the zataar fries and it was good. Nice and crunchy with good seasoning! My FAVORITE item was the early bird breakfast sandwich!!!! Nice and big piece of fried chicken along side my favorite breakfast items and not to mention that steamed egg Service wise, it was quick and the staff were efficient. Very convenient spot to grab and go or sit for a quick bite.
Gonna be honest, this place holds up to the hype. The donuts are simple cake doughnuts, with interesting and well composed toppings. The strawberry cheese cake was so good. It hit all the right notes. But their more simple donuts, like the chocolate on chocolate, are just as delightful. Specifically, you can tell that they're made with quality ingredients. I like their chicken sandwich. I did think it would be bigger, but other than that, it was good. It was well seasoned and well cooked. Oh! And the fries were great. They were fresh, boardwalk style. A true, can't miss. I do think the menu board should mention the cheese, sauce, and pickles on the sandwich, and maybe use a thinner sliced pickle. But all in all, I'm a fan.
Hot doughnuts made to order! Is there anything better? Easy location to access, has a fre!! parking lot attached. Don't skip this place on any visit. And the chicken is great, as well!!Food: 5/5
Quite possibly the best donut and chicken place in the city. The fresh donuts are fantastic and so are the artisan donuts. If you’re trying to keep it on the cheaper side, the fresh simple donuts are the way to go. The chicken tenders are amazing, and so are the house sauces that come with. I will always recommend this place for those looking for quality chicken and donuts, and it never lets down.
The place is nice. Atmosphere and service was excellent. It was my first time going to federal donuts. So this review does not compare to any other locations. There was parking outside which was great and there were outdoor seating too. The place was however expensive. I bought three items: the chicken tenders, lavender lemonade and smores donut. S'mores Donut: Cakey. Tastes good but I did not like the cakey texture. It was also $3 for a single donut, so that was expensive. Chicken tenders: The tenders don't look good, but they taste good. They look homemade and tastes good, better than those fast food options. They are crispy. It comes with two sauces. Although there are only 3 tenders, they are filling. Good portion size for a meal. Three tenders were $10.50. Expensive compared to fast food places. Lavender lemonade: Never tried one before. I liked it. Tastes good. $3.75 for a 16oz. Pretty decent. I wont be going back here for donuts, I might for the tenders and drink. They also didn't have hot chocolate even though it is already November, but the server told me that it will be in soon.
I placed a takeout order and picked it up. Once I got home, I realized the order was incorrect. There was only one plain donut in the bag when I had ordered 2 strawberry lavender. The donuts were a special request from my daughter. I drove back to get the right order. I told them the order was wrong, I had 2 strawberry lavender donuts and you gave me 1 plain donuts. For starters, the ladies at the front desk didn’t seemed apologetic at all for their mistake. They were smirking at each other as if they thought the situation was amusing. Then the lady at the front started making the donut while I waited and she came back with 1 donut. I asked about the other and she said that I already had one in the bag. This made me upset knowing that she once again didn’t pay any attention to the order or what I said. She didn’t check what was in the bag. I took the donut out of the bag and left it on the counter to make sure she sees it was a plain donut. She got upset that I was being disrespectful and won’t make the second one unless I took it with me. I threw the plain donut in trash. I waited once again for the second one to be ready and left once I got it. I have been a regular customer of Federal Donut for years. This is the first time I have had to deal with this level of unprofessionalism. I can only hope the management acknowledges this incident and does a better job at hiring and/or training its staff with basic etiquette of handling customers when the customer is not at fault.
This was my second time visiting federal donuts since April 2022 and it was just as good as the first time! The breakfast sandwich is so good and unique! The egg was in a fried patty form along with a pepper relish that is out of this world! I loved the bread they used! Me and my fiancée both got a cinnamon sugar donut that is absolutely delicious! The donut is so moist and prepared to perfection! The coating was just the right amount! The cinnamon sugar donut is probably the best one I have ever had in my life. We also got 3 of their speciality donuts: Baklava, Pralines & Cream, and Lavender London Fog!
3/26/24 Edit - The chicken sandwiches are getting better.. we're hovering around 70% of the original sandwich quality. I'll give 2 stars for the donuts & coffee but honestly folks, DONT ORDER THE CHICKEN SANDWICH!! Once upon a time it was juicy, tender, crispy & seasoned perfectly but every one I've had over the past year is gross. What's worse is that they charge $8 for a cafeteria bun with an overdone stringy dry chunk of something resembling chicken. I tried to eat it because I was starving and couldn't just toss $8, but in hindsight the $8 would've tasted better.. sooo tough. Unless you're gonna change something about the preparation I think you should take it off the menu. I'm really tired of giving it another chance, only to find out it's even worse. Realistically I've probably thrown $50+ in the trash, hoping that they were dealing with Covid problems and that delicious sandwich from years ago would come back. But I give up.. Here is a photo of today's disaster,
For no reason, I waited a long time to eat here and then I read an article mentioning that their coconut curry wings are very good, so I decided to check them out, but they do not have coconut curry wings or the chicken sandwich on a glazed donut that we saw online. But service was friendly and we decided to stay. We got some over priced donuts, the best is the cinnamon sugar and the strawberry one was real good. But their sandwich was ok, nothing to brag about. Their Za atar fries is just like black pepper seasoning. Pretty disappointing. The place is cute.
Nice staff. Good cannoli donut, the rest were mediocre. The fruit donuts taste very artificial. The dirt and tahini one were a bit weirdly salty. They're all cake donuts so very filling. The coffee lids are nicely chewy, brings me back to my pacifier-sucking days.
