Field & Main Restaurant

A marvelous evening on all fronts. Jackie at the bar set the time with her concoctions of bourbon and mezcal, fortunately two separate drinks. Seated at the chef's counter gave us front row seats to a beautiful hybrid kitchen. All modem sophistication on one end and a huge wood-fired hearth at the other, with the wispy aroma of wood smoke influencing many different dishes. We were shown great care and attention by Sonya and Tony and had a lovely chat with various other guests at different times throughout our visit; everyone seemed equally delighted about the whole experience provided by F&M from start to finish. The menu was overflowing with tempting options and great restraint was required not to overindulge, setting the stage for our next visit which will be soon! Thanks to the whole team for a fantastic meal!

Tried here for a Sunday brunch for a friend's birthday after seeing the chef on the Beat Bobby Flay show. Loved it - the fried chicken and shrimp and grits. Great soup. The biscuit is dry and not flavorful on its own. The loco moco featured on the show could use a little more flavor. We had a great time eating here and shopping at the antique stores across and next to the restaurant.

My wife called for a reservation. Put phone on speaker. I heard her book a 7:00pm. I received a call at 5:45 asking where we were. Changed our table but got us in at 7:00. A couple came in around 7:30 and I quickly realized what happened. Everyone who worked at the restaurant, including the chef, greeted and entertained them as my wife and I watched. We got bumped by regulars or friends of the staff. The Host made me and my wife feel very small with that move. The old switch-a-roo. It was an unacceptable thing to do. They didn’t live up to their word and hold the seats for us. Instead they tried to make my wife feel like she booked the wrong time. Sorry field and main I heard it to. Shame on you and the host for doing that to me and my wife. I’m embarrassed for you and that host. Don’t support a business that will make you feel that small and blame oh when they mess up.

Delicious, creative food and knowledgeable servers who don't try to rush you through your meal. The rooms are small and quiet. Beautiful, quaint, homey feel.
