Great service and fair pricing! Dropped off the boat for shrink wrap and picked it up a few hours later.

These guys are a small operation that provides great service. They were a god send this year as our alternator failed just before our pullout date. Even though they were slammed, they squeezed us in, got a new alt installed and we are good to go for winter. Highly recommend!

Absolutely the worst service in Michigan. First year boat wrap was great. Second year lost my battery. Third year did not winterize my water heater and cracked it. Here is the best part. They YELLED AT ME!!! Said I was trying to cheat them by cracking my own water heater. They actually said that they will never wrap my boat again. Like I would ever use them again. And that I should take them to court!! Never, I repeat never take your boat work to them. Paid them over 700 dollars to wrap and winterize. Stay away!!!!

Brenda, Ron and the team at First Mate are really top notch. They helped me through a stressful situation and getting my boat fixed up and back on the water QUICK! I really appreciated all of Brenda’s communication with me in the short time my boat was at the shop. I snapped a shaft in one of my drives and the team was able to turn it around. I’m not sure what else they did but the boat starts better and feels better too. I think their rates are really reasonable. They understand that boating itself is expensive and gouging customers is no way to do business. This is the second emergency I’ve taken to First Mate but I am definitely going to consider getting them on the routine maintenances.

From the very beginning, I had a very good experience Brenda was very professional in handling my situation I had a seawater pumped. that went bad on me the day I put the boat in I called first mate. They were able to squeeze me in before the holiday weekend so I was able to enjoy my weekend out on the water. Highly recommended that if you need something done look them up. First Mate is amazing! I have used them for years. We we’re bringing our new to us boat home from another state. About 5 miles after leaving we started taking on water. Called first mate, Ron told us how do a temp fix over the phone. A couple hours later they called us to make sure we were still doing ok approx 8:30p. First Mate has been nothing but spectacular!! Bought my first boat for myself and right off the launch needed some work and education on proper maintenance for her. Brenda worked with my schedule to get me in and most importantly kept me updated on the necessary work. The guys in the back are fantastic and took the time to educate me on all the work they did and were quick as ever! After seeing the reply to my husband I feel like I should add in my experience as well. I was present for the first phone call May 16 when she answered with an attitude before we could even get a word in. She told us more than likely someone would be out after the holiday, however, someone was going to be at the marina next week working and would be able to stop by and check it out. After the holiday he called to see when someone could come out and we were told on Tuesday “today or tomorrow” but we were patient and didn’t bother them for a few days. On Sunday he called again to see what was going on because the electric stopped working and our boat was taking on water and was told “it’s Sunday, how am I supposed to know” with attitude and which point he responded with “thanks for nothing, bye”. He did not call her names like she claimed, nor did she say that to me when I called to ask if someone stopped by, because even though she was beyond rude and unprofessional he still wanted to compensate anyone that may have gone to give us an estimate. She didn’t let me get a word in, she went off on me and hung up before I could say anything. My husband values respect, kindness, and professionalism more than anyone else I know and anyone that knows him will agree. I can not speak for the work this company provides but if the person answering the phones wants to be rude, lie, and act like your company is doing a favor by allowing me to bring my business and potentially thousands of dollars to you, I wouldn’t take the risk.
