My 2 year old and I were one of the first, and only mind you, people in the store minus the I believe 3 associates I saw working. The other people were a middle aged white women, who I couldn't tell if she worked there or was looking for something, and an older white lady looking for some odds and ends. I had felt like we were being watched/followed, and at one point turned to see the they/them what have you and I was right. We picked up our coloring books, candy for the bigger siblings and started making our way towards the check out section. At this point 2-3 more customers/customer groups had come in, and nevertheless, they/them was literally pacing back and forth by the registers in a concerned manner. As we start zig-zagging in the candy isles to make our way closer, they/them came over and told me they would help me at "this register over here," and started walking to it. My 2yo was playing with a water gun and I was just kind of in this moment where I'm confused about why they/them is so eager to check us out. There wasn't a line. They/them weren't doing anything besides watching us and pacing. Hoards of people hadn't bombarded the store. Right then, and older black lady came in on the phone. The they/them then came over to us and basically hoarded us over to the register and said, "whenever your ready..." so I stopped my sone from looking at toys and had him push the basket over to the register. In their defense, they did at least ask how my day was, and I just said "ok." My son started trying to hand them stuff from the basket and he basically started taking the items from him before my son was done reaching for things, in a manner that would make you feel like you're trying to steal things, or that the items shouldn't be handled by child hands... So I purposely kept giving my 2 yo the items from the basket because he likes helping, and because it was starting to make they/them tremble. I was literally watching their hand tremble before grabbing items. During this time, the black lady had gotten her few items, gone to the first register, and checked out and they/them didn't even turn towards her once. So why did I need to be handled like this? Why couldn't I just check myself out with my son's help and not deal with you in my space? I pause to say that the space there is cramped. I'm a big guy, and this they/them was also not tiny. The "register" space is roughly 3 foot in total for each register, all side by side in close proximity. Now this whole time, they/them were standing in front of the bag for the items, and every time I'd back up or stand up from helping my son, he would quickly shift towards in front of the bag as if I was going to snatch it and run. People, this body hasn't run for anything other than an emergency in years. It sure as heck won't be running for a bag full of $36 worth of coloring books and candy for kids... He tells me my total of $36 and some change, and then tells me I can pay by cash or card. WOW! THE TECHNOLOGY IS CRAZY! YOU CAN PAY WITH A CARD NOW? WOAH!... I say I'm using a card, and he tells me to put the card in. He. Doesn't. Move. Still standing directly in front of the self checkout register and my bag, to the point I have to reach around him to tap my card. "Put your pin in..." "No thanks," I said since he wasn't moving and I wasn't putting my pin in. To which he looked away in disgust. Still standing in front of my bag and refused to hand me my bag until my receipt has come out and he's nearly folded it and then hands me the bag in a sort of, "now scram," sort of way, and starts wandering off... Why was all of that necessary? Why were myself and my 2 year old targeted and treated like possible thieves? Why did we need to get any of this sort of awkward treatment from someone who clearly needs to figure out how to dress for a transition? 100% do not recommend this store. Contacted Corporate Customer Service for the complaint.
This place is a kid’s dream. There are so many cool and affordable things. I feel like the quality has improved from 10 years ago.
I purchased luggage for my grandchildren, and it was definitely well worth the money, I spent.
Just like every other retailer, they also have Self Checkout and you don't have the option for a employee to check you out.
The location is well placed in the shopping center. The staff are eager to assist in any way they can going above and beyond for there customer base. The inventory is excellent a wide variety of items in all corners of the store. The only down side I found was the lack of space the aisles are really close to each other and make moving in the store hard especially in busy hours or holidays. So in conclusion if your able to go to the location when it is not as busy you will have an enjoyable experience.
I had always loved this store... Up until they decided that cashiers weren't needed..I DO NOT work for 5 Below, I should not be ringing myself up! That's why I went shopping in an actual store instead of online... When you go to a brick&mortar store you expect service.. Not to mention that this removes jobs from our community... I'd rather wait for a cashier, than to have less jobs on the market when unemployment is so high...jmho...
Great variety through out. Their cell phone accessories section was very limited, but found what I came for!
Store is open not sure why but mostly all of the products are gone from the shelves and closed off for remodeling. I would of appreciated know this before coming all the way here... Gas isnt cheap! Just close the store if your products are NOT available for purchasing! Amazon wins again!
Five below is great and always has those hidden gem items you never knew you wanted and/or needed
This place is really neatly organized, clean, and offers more items geared towards older people teens and up than some of the other locations I have been to. They have a really neat arts and crafts section and I also was very impressed with the selection of electronics and makeup/accessories. They even have a pretty nice variety of footwear probably more for ladies than dudes. Sorry guys no five dollar footwear for you The only downside to this location, that actually has been an issue at other five below stores too, is it is TIGHT in there in terms of aisle way space! You definitely don't want to go in there with wheel chairs or strollers in my opinion unless it's an umbrella stroller. But sometimes their wheels are just a sonuva aren't they?!
