We were blessed with the good fortune to meet Matt Basteri when he was assigned to show us an open house on Zillow. We ended up loving it and wanted to place a bid. As first-time bidders we were completely lost where to start. Matt worked with us constantly over the weekend to make sure we had an excellent bid ready to submit on Monday. It was his initial willingness to jump right in and his patience in guiding some first-time bidders through the process that made us realize we wanted to stick with Matt no matter what the outcome. As it turned out, we were not successful in that first bid. Through the next few weeks of open houses, ups and downs, and a couple of very tough calls, Matt was always available to guide us. When we saw a diamond-in-the-rough Matt worked with us again to put together a really good bid. Thanks to his great communication with the seller's agent and his assistance as we put together the bid, we were successful in getting our offer accepted. Matt continued to work with us all the way through including closing day 3 months later. To sum things up, Matt was extremely hardworking, personable, and helpful. We had several moments of despair during our housing search, and Matt provided guidance and boosted our morale. The proof of course is in the pudding - we are very happy homeowners. We found him randomly through Zillow We had another realtor we used to purchase our Cambridge home and were unhappy when we started looking at larger properties. Though we ultimately decided not to buy at the time, we were so impressed with Matt that we later used him to sell our home. And he did an amazing job! We even initially tried to sell it FSBO and he provided some informal guidance. We ultimately decided to hire him and he sold our property for over asking and that was even after the first higher offer fell through. We wanted our home listed by a certain date for personal reasons and even though we were unrealistic in our expectations. He made it happen and even got a photographer to us within 24 hours. Matt is a true professional, he understands the market, he is honest rare these days, has great follow up/through and was always on top of everything. After the 1st open house, he negotiated everything so well we had several written offers within 3 days. He is friendly and always went the extra mile for us. We have used many agents 20+ over the years and he stands out among every single one of them!
