I have volunteered here twice in the past two years. The staff here are fun, enthusiastic, and informative. I have thoroughly enjoyed serving here with my work team, and they have been very intentional to thank us immensely for our service and hard work. It feels great to have been part of something meaningful in the Omaha metro area. I look forward to bringing my whole family here sometime in the next few years to volunteer together.
Sarah is absolutely amazing to work with. My company volunteers their and when I am organizing 60 employees to all come in a day, Sarah knows how to make it happen. She’s super responsive and timely when communicating back and forth via email and she makes the process so smooth. I recommend volunteering here for any time you’re looking to give back!
It is so heart-warming to see how much the Food Bank is helping our community by avoiding food waste and providing meals for our community! The Food Bank of the Heartland also has a fantastic, well organized volunteering program teaching valuable job skills and providing fulfilling opportunities to people who are willing to contribute their time and efforts to a great cause. Youth as young as 10 can volunteer alongside adults.
If you’re delivering in a sleeper and 53 footer it will be tight getting on dock. You can blind side it, I thought it was fairly easy just take your time. Or they recommend turning around in the lot, I just didn’t think there was enough room to do that with all the box trucks here. You can also ask them to spot you.
This is not a food bank. This is a non-profit food distribution terminal. They give food to churches not to people. I came in person and they gave me a flyer with Google-able information on it. They called it a learning opportunity for their employees. It was humiliating. I don't want to go to a church for food. I don't want to be spoken to about God or to be preached at. I wanted food and was given a piece of paper. Took an hour of my day to come get told to look up a "food bank" close to my zip code. You cannot be more thick or willfully blind. I searched food bank near me and this place was the only place that was open. It is not a food bank. It is not a social service. This is a corporate warehouse with an administrative office responsible for distribution of food to church clientele. Humiliating waste of my morning.
Not the fastest place but friendly good people even came out to spot as for a stretch it's pretty tight but come in spin around and it's 5 minutes just like any other tight spots don't push the truck back and get crooked afew little pull ups to get back under it and it's a wrap
Nice and friendly people fast unloading, don’t worry about here, when your gps about zeroing you gotta better slow down and look for a little off street parking using your emergency light on then call them or go to the office for checking in, when they probably give you door 3 then at your left side there is a warhorse it has two entrances, because you got a turn around and backup the warhorse you can use your left entrance to go and the second one turn around, you will see it is easy
Great place to volunteer for two hours. Lots of things they need help with. Several groups help, so you get to know other helping hands. The staff is very patient and knowledgeable with a true heart for those in need across Nebraska and Eastern Iowa.
This place is fantastic, super clean and organized friendly staff.
I must admit I struggled real bad parking my 53 trailer with sleeper still new driver. The parking was somewhat tight. The staff there was absolutely amazing. Very friendly and helpful throughout the whole process! They even helped park my rig which I was so thankful for!
