1 wait time is long average 10-15min in line 2 food options are mostly junk except the veggies section which is $17/lb 3 all meat dishes were bad and lacked all flavor and taste. 4 food is expensive for the quality but i guess better can’t be expected since they have so much people wanting a lot of food really quickly. The museum doesnt allow outside food and drinks so most folks end up eating here anyway
Outrageously expensive. There was very long lines and very slow service. The food was pretty bad, like the french fries where the best thing there but the wait to get the French fries was very long. The burger $17 was kinda soggy. The cake/desserts were dry and tasted pretty generic. Two people in front of us paid $80 and we 2 people paid $60. Its depending on which nasty dish you get. We were excited because it was a restaurant inside the Smithsonian, but definitely not worth it! If the food was McDonalds price, the food would be fine. But everything was a 1/5 for me.
The low ratings are not consistent with the actual food. The food is pretty good, particularly for museums, and would definitely eat here again. It is highly convenient, although it gets very busy for the staff. Timing is everything for getting seats but turnover is pretty high. Plus extra points for eating under the shade of a Megalodon!
The food was honestly not that great. I had a pasta al forno or something like that. The way you get your food is confusing. And the food for the what little you get is outrageously expensive even for expensive food in DC.Food: 1/5
Wouldn’t recommend. Didn’t want anything heavy because the walking we would be doing, but food is way overpriced for the selections you get.Food: 1/5
It felt like an ordinary Cafe. Nothing special. No contact with the client. The food is not the same value of how much it is. Trays were still wet and plates are heavy. Overall, overpriced. I paid $20 for this plate. No beverage included.Food: 1/5
Limited selection, food is mediocre and kind of overpriced, but there is no charge to visit the museum. Staff made a good job in managing the huge crowd.
Very overpriced. The only thing that looked okay was the Mac and Cheese and it was $9. There a lot more options in the area to eat or just pack a lunch. It’s pretty standard that museums, zoos, amusements parks the food is expensive. It’s just part of the convenience factor. I have eaten at other museums in DC and the food was amazing. I ended up getting a banana for $2.50. A fruit cup consisted of about 10 grapes.
If I could give zero stars, I would. Cafeteria style food that tastes absolutely terrible and is insanely overpriced. Our family of 4 were charged $83 and I didn't even order any food, I only grabbed a can of water for myself and one of the meals was a hot dog kid's meal. This place is absolute garbage. I wish we had eaten at one of the food trucks outside. By far the worst food of our entire trip.
DO NOT GO HERE. If you are hungry, eat before or after going to the museum. This place SUCKS…other comments are 100% right about the prices and quality. They clearly rely on the ‘no outside food’ policy to make sales. I got a piece of cake for $7, and it was dry almost crunchy?? and tasted like it was frosted with pudding from a cup. So, bad. Also, a very small yogurt pouch with no price posted was more expensive than anything else we ordered. I would, on the other hand, recommend the food trucks down the street. Much fairer prices, much better food. Literally, you’d be better off spending 2 hours in the museum hungry than eating here. If the museum reads this: please, if you’re going to charge so much for food to make up for free admission, at least make the food EDIBLE…
