Fred's Frozen Custard & Grill

I had to stop by and say hello to good friends and eat their good food! If you haven’t been here yet you seriously need to go! Get a burger and some Cajun seasoned fries. You will not be disappointed! Also, the custard is rich, creamy and delicious!

I really needed a good burger and a friend recommended Fred's. Parking was a bit challenging but we only had to walk down about seven houses. The staff was welcoming and friendly. The burger was definitely worth it the short walk, though. It tasted like grilling in the backyard on a cloudless 73° Labor Day, except your celebrating on Sunday so you find comfort in knowing your food baby will be born before anyone notices. If you need an old-fashioned, diner style American smash burger, this is the place to go. The fries with house seasoning were delicious af too.

Fred’s is the best place in my area for burgers. Way better than most of the famous burgers in the city of Milwaukee. Alex and Sam are phenomenal at running the business. Alex always remembers us and what we usually order. I always get a delicious and fresh burger just the way I like it. It is so juicy and tasty. In fact, I love it so much, when they opened for the season this year, I was the first person to place and pick up my order. I eat here at least once a week and usually twice a week. It is that delicious. Highly recommended.

Incredibly friendly staff and an amazing burger topped the way you want, and cheese fries so cheesy, you’ll have to rake through it with a fork to find the last few fries. I got a double bacon cheeseburger “garden style” or was it “salad style”? because my skin can’t handle that spicy bread, and a small cheese fry. You’re right, I probably shouldn’t have had the fries either. But I had to try them!

This place is awesome! Best burgers, fries & custard. Period! On top of that, their customer service is top notch. Was there w/ my son today and something on our burger order got messed up so manager came out to apologize and he said he was giving us a QUART of custard for the extra 10 minute wait. They didn't need to do that but my kid was blown away and so was I. Love this place and happy it's in our neighborhood!

I'm pretty particular about my burgers. I find very often a burger is 'pretty good' because it's hard to screw up - but it makes me wish I ordered something I can't make at home. I will say this may be my new FAVORITE burger in MKE - seriously. Quality bun and generous with the veggie toppings. Patty was juicy and the perfect slight crisp on the edge. Also incredible - fries, fried pickles, custard amazing-do the twist.

Fred's Drive-In is a great place with great food and great/friendly staff. Located on W. Vliet across the street from the NTF Police Station. Has a very unique feel to it, reminiscent of a 60's style diner. The customers are good people, fun to talk with, and courteous. I'm cognizant of the fact that most people don't want to be in photo's. However in conversation with a customer I asked if he would be ok with being in a photo that will be on Google Maps. Disappointed. I was looking forward to a great burger by my host's recommendation. But when we got home the edges were burned, hard and crispy like cardboard. The Young man in the white apron with an extremely large belly, who made the burgers, spent too much time in conversation with a female customer. French fries were short in length, very hard and did not taste fresh. But tasted more like an old batch that were reheated. The strawberry shake was the only redeeming quality.

Huge burger with a buttery bun that is really nicely cooked. French fries with Cajun seasoning were great and had a nice kick to them.

Excellent sandwiches and fries. Great malts. Super friendly and helpful staff. Love this neighborhood spot.
