Amazing store. Known for their electronic/computer parts. How I found out about them was a friend from Toronto Canada came to visit over 25 years ago. His one request was to go to Frys. Their sell not only electronic, parts, TVs, computers, DVD, security cams and a big selection of "as seen on TV" products. Lots of Fun stuff and stuff you don't expect to see.

I have never ever felt so discriminated for being a woman and frustruated. All men I asked for help was like sorry, don't have it, can't help you! Had me walking around all the departments. Thank God I found a woman who was so helpful. She got me what I needed in less than 2 minutes. So yes, they did have the product.

I've changed my review from its initial four-star rating down to a one-star rating. The reason for this is two-fold: First, Fry's associates work on an hourly + commission-basis, and for the most part, the sole intent of the majority of their associates is to sell you items, which are not needed nor required In order to accomplish this, they will either intentionally misinform you or ignorantly misinform you based on topics they have no knowledge of. Second, Fry's Electronics hires many associates who do not possess the knowledge necessary to inform consumers prior to making their purchase. I have been in the store an untold number of times listening to random associates make up information in order to make a sale. This is no way to run a business.
My personal experience w/ this came when, I purchased a laptop from this location approximately four months ago. Prior to making the purchase, I spent ~three hours in the store comparing it to other laptops in stock. I was being "helped" by one of their associates, whose only interest was to sell me the device as quickly as possible. Some of the specs of the laptop were not transparent on the box, so I asked a couple questions of the Fry's associate, including if she would bring the model I was interested in purchasing out from the back, and put it on display. She said that this was not possible and asked what questions I had about the system. I told her what I was looking for, and she "answered" these questions by essentially lying to me in order to make the sale. She really had no business answering based on her level of understanding of the device. And, that's the real crux of the problem at any Fry's location. You simply cannot trust what is being told to you. Fry's commission-based payment policies pits the associates against the consumers.
Upon firing up this system for the first time, there were hardware and software errors in the Windows event viewer. It also became readily apparent that this system did not have the specs listed on the box, and it was not new but instead refurbished. I finally contacted Dell the other day, and they confirmed these two facts. Additionally, I have now spent the better part of the past month troubleshooting this laptop to no avail.
Fry's has a 30-day return policy, but as this system was going to be utilized as part of a test network, which still required some build out, it was not until three months later that it was unboxed and turned on for the first time. The fault in this lies w/ me. I should have started this system up right away.
I am now stuck between a rock and a hard place. Fry's is standing by their 30-day return policy, and Dell will only provide a refurbished model. My problem is that this system has only been out of the box for less than 30 days, so taking a refurbished system that may be up to 18-months old isn't exactly an acceptable solution to me, nor is simply utilizing this laptop as a doorstop.

Personally, I like Fry's, although it's not everyone's cup of tea, nor do they offer the best prices around. If you need something immediately, they've got a rather wide selection for a brick-and-mortar location. If you can wait, places like Amazon will probably offer better prices, although, I do believe that Fry's offers price-matching.
If you're not tech-savvy, I would either suggest performing your due diligence, and research what you're interested in purchasing prior to arriving, or find someplace else to shop. Many of their sales associates are not qualified to be giving technical advice, and much of their motivation centers on Fry's commission-based sales platform, which isn't helpful to the customer or the sales associate.
Overall, if you enjoy tech-related stuff, Fry's is the place for you. Just don't let them hard-sell you on anything you're unsure of.

I needed 3 specific things. I wandered the aisles for quite some time looking for somebody to help me. I did locate one employee, but he was stocking shelves while talking on his cellphone. He was incredibly elusive when I tried to get his attention, never making eye contact. When I did manage to get his attention, he was no help whatsoever. It took me 45 minutes to find what I needed on my own. The first person in the store who took the initiative to pay me any attention was a gal checking receipts at the door. I just laughed at her and walked out. This place doesn't even pretend to appreciate their customers.

Huge selection of all electronics. Great place to look around; you never know what you might find. Customer service has improved over the years.
