I recently had to replace the computer for the transmission in my car. That cost around $800. The transmission shop told me that my car needed more than $4,000 worth of other work as well. I told them that I'd take it to my regular mechanic for the rest of the work. Gary's Auto Repair just called me with a quote for the extra work: $540. That's why I continue going to Gary even though he's in Portland, and I had to take three public buses to get home. He never overcharges me or tells me that I need work when I don't. Stumbled upon this shop seeking help with a major fluid leak and couldn’t be happier I did. Doesn’t look like much from the outside - but you have a great worker named Jacob.  He appeared busy but dropped what he was doing to help me which was unexpected but much appreciated. Very kind, friendly guy - and extremely knowledgeable afterwards answering some questions I had. Even suggested a good local tire shop. Thank you.

I have used Gary's for over a decade and never have had a bad experience there.  I have referred many friends and family, and now they are loyal customers also.  Gary has probably the cheapest shop rate in town at $75/hr, its simply not worth my time to try and fix my own cars.  Gary and Michelle are really great people...  Very Highly recommended!

Such nice people! Gary and his wife Michelle run the garage and are super kind. They were very fast, but I was there first thing in the morning. I will definitely take my car back for other maintenance needs. They do only take cash or check-- which isn't a problem if you just know in advance.

At Advantage Electric, we don't let anyone other than Gary's Auto Repair touch our vehicles.They do a great job at a very fair price!  They are honest and upfront and they tell it like it is!  So impressed with them and Budget Towing, as well.  I used them when my personal vehicle had to be towed somewhere.  My previous mechanic said could be a heater core, around $500, but he didn't have time to look at it until a couple of days later.  Well, in the interim, my car seriously overheated and I had to have it towed to Gary's.  Gary, after hearing what the problem was, told me when the heater stops working or fluctuates, it usually means there is not enough coolant, and to stop driving or you will burn up your engine. Yep, my new personal mechanic, as well. And, Michelle and everyone there are so nice and helpful!!

I work at an auto body shop down the street from Gary's. They are fast, friendly, and do good work. I just sent my brother here for a leaky radiator, and had a great experience. I highly recommend Gary's to anyone looking for a top notch mechanic.

Gary is a referral for me. He led me in the right direction on my mechanic issue.  A year ago fixed an 01 ranger cam sync. Issue. Hes good and reasonable. Thanks gary.
