I ordered the chicken parm pasta. The chicken was good but my pasta was bland. I ordered the spaghetti off the kids menu and it was not good. The waitress was nice about it and allowed us to switch it out for the burger. The green beans were not hot when it reached the table. The portions are a great size. The crawfish empanadas were also good. I will be back.
Excellent food at fine dining prices. The restaurant is a bit loud for my taste. My table had to yell at each other just to have casual conversation. Parking: Parking is limited, however if you can walk, there is plenty of parking on the street behind or behind the Black Rose Theatre.
We were disappointed in Genna Benna's. The ambiance was great, but the food was plain, simple, and uninspired. We ordered three different menu dinners, but little of it was remarkable. The side of broccoli was good, and the grilled shrimp that was served on the shrimp salad was good. But overall it was all so ... AVERAGE. I could make these dishes from random stuff in my home, from pre-packaged grocery store items.
My husband and I went on 9/10/22. We were greeted and seated promptly. But waited 15-20 minutes before seeing our waiter or even being offered a drink menu by any one of the many waiters that were passing by our booth. My husband and I sat patiently as we watched all the people around us get their 1st drink second drink and some even their food before receiving even the drink menu. The people who came in 20 minutes behind us got their drink menu promptly and drinks at the same time that we did. I was ready to go it seemed very nefarious at that point. But considering we’ve been there once before and it all turned out well we stayed. My husband had the fish and grits. The plating was horrible the grits fish were dry and lumpy. My food didn’t taste good considering the service. Total opposite of our first visit. I wanted to ask the waiter about it but he never came back he sent someone else. The vibes and food were off. We’ve gone once before and can say it was much better the first time so if you eat here you have a 50/50 chance of a good or bad experience. Not worth risking for a near $100 meal
The hostess was super friendly. The spinach and artichoke appetizer was great. I had the beef tips, peppers, and onions over rice pilaf. Everything was cooked well, but they didn't drain all the grease off the beef before combining. Still tasted good. I travel all across the country, and try bread pudding everywhere! This is one of the best. Needs sliced almonds to put it in the top spot.
My wife and I were on our way home on Tuesday, and we stopped of here after hearing about it from friends. The service was great, the food was excellent, I ordered the pork chops and mashed potatoes with salad. My wife had the chicken pasta. Everything was so delicious. Parking: Even if you have to walk a little it is worth it...
Traveling all day & wanted to stop in for something unique to the area. We ordered the seafood pasta & shrimp platter - they were great!! We also ordered the kids pizza; that was not great and didn’t look appetizing fit our little one. We also ordered to-go so that could have been the issue, but overall great food!
Food is always good. Usually no waiting for a table. Host / hostesses & Waiters / waitresses are friendly. BRIAN is our favorite on Sundays after church. He is the best. Ask for him We Recommend tender pork chops & fresh salad with fried chicken. Yummy! Kid-friendliness: Family friendly
I can't comment on the food, because we never got any. We were seated quickly, but no one ever came to the table to take drink orders or even to say "hi". Waited 15-20 minutes before we threw in the towel and left. It's a shame, too, because I've heard the food is excellent. The atmosphere is really lovely, as well. I understand that finding help is difficult right now, but 20+ minutes is just ridiculous. Not sure if we'll give them another chance.
Went in for dinner tonight & the hostess was quick to seat us. We sat there for over 20 minutes without being acknowledged. I understand that they were short-staffed, but someone could have stopped & said something to us - at least taken our drink order. Finally, we left without ordering. I mean, the waitress for the tables next to us could have let us know that our server would be right with us & taken our drink order, at least. She acted like we weren't even there - never made eye contact & mostly kept her back to us. Hopefully, if I can convince my husband to give them another try, we will have a better outcome.
