Came in for lunch on a Sunday and, upon the recommendation of the bartender, ordered the oxtails. The dish was a nice sized portion with sides of red beans & rice, and cabbage. The oxtails themselves were tender and flavorful, spiced with cloves and juniper. The cabbage was also flavorful and was cooked just right; soft on the outside, but still a little crunchy. The rice was served with two julliened sweet plantains and worked well to mop up all of the drippings. Service was friendly and I'll definitely be back to try other items.
I really wanted this place to be good. We ordered take out and decided to have a drink while we waited. We sat at the bar and got charged the 18% “dine in only” gratuity charge on our entire order take out food and drinks. When I asked the server why did we get charged the the dine in only charge, she said it’s because we sat down at the bar and ordered a drink. Our $8 drinks turned into $20 drinks just for sitting at the bar while waiting for our food to take out. When we got home, our food was over cooked and dry. The rice and peas was dry and bland. The oxtails and goat was dry and overcooked. The cabbage tasted like lettuce. The carrots were raw. The pasta was over cooked and the jerk cream sauce was watery. For the amount of money we spent there, we could have went to dinner literally anywhere nicer instead and gotten way better service with more flavorful food. Don’t bother going.
This was my first experience and I tried it based on strong recommendations. The staff were nice, friendly, professional, and attentive. You have to be a little patient because it takes the food a little while to come out, but the food is hot and fresh. I had a combo which I love when that option is offered with ox tails and brown stew pork with cabbage, white rice, and plantains. The meats were very tender. Ox tails were a little small.. The cabbage had too much red pepper flakes which caused me not to eat it all, but it had a good taste. Plantains were very good. I was satisfied with the prices and portions which is key for me.
1st time 07/23/2022. Just like a lot of spots in Canton, street parking is very limited. Ordered to go. Oxtail entree. Meat was well seasoned, moist, but more bones than I expected. Cabbage was crunchy not mushy. Nice to know this spot is in the area & I don't have to drive to Owings Mills or Randallstown. Overall, I'd patronize again! Wheelchair accessibility: Ground floor
Terrible. Sad excuse for a Caribbean restaurant. Curry shrimp was not flavorful at all. I ordered jerk chicken. As a Caribbean woman I know the difference between jerk and brown stewed chicken! So essentially my entire order was wrong. Plantain undercooked. Should of just drove to Tashes Ankh.
Very upsetting. I thought I was about to dig into some caribbean love but NOPE! I ordered the two meat meal & my meats where oxtails & brown stew chicken mac n cheese and rice & a side of jerk chicken. Okay so the brown stew had no stew just dry chicken & had a funny taste. The oxtails weren’t edible because they smelled & taste like they were burnt. The Mac n cheese smelled and tasted like it was cooked in the same pot as the oxtails and had that burned taste to it as well. My wings had that same smell & looked soggy. I was so hungry and only could stand to eat the brown stew chicken because it was the only thing that didn’t taste like it was burned. I tried calling the carry out nine times and no one answered. I ordered off of door dash so this place is not even close to where I live. A waste of $36 doors on food include door dash tax, delivery fee & tip $52 dollars went out window. I’m so upset!
I normally don't write reviews, but this time I had to. Me and my partner ordered 6 beef patties and when we opened it to eat, some of them were broken apart with meat on the outside of the patties. The bags were very oily and some of the patties were undercooked. The dough was mushy. I never had patties served to me in this manner. Last time spending money here!
Good authentic Jamaican cuisine. The specials are a steal, highly suggest them to try the variety of food offered. The drink menu is intriguing. I got the curry chicken and it was seasoned perfectly, however, there was a lot of bone broken from the chicken thighs. 9/10 recommend!
The food was very delicious. The only thing I didn’t like was the portions. I literally got a fork full of cabbage and very little ox tails. But boy did I get plenty of rice and beans. The next time I visit Baltimore and get their food I will try to eat in, to see if there’s a difference. I went on 9-25-2022
Unfortunately this was undoubtedly the most disappointing Jamaican food I’ve ever had. I ordered the jerk pork entree, it came out quickly, hot and fresh. However it was completely unimpressive. The consistency of the sauce made it closer to stewed pork, and the flavors it did have didn’t resemble “jerk” at all. The bartender a very nice lady btw asked me had I had the jerk pork from there as soon as I ordered it. That probably was my sign to abort mission right there smh. Had jerk pork last week in the Bronx perfection which is why I wanted to try some today. Terrible. Wasted $22.
