Our experience at Glacier Brewhouse was exceptional. It was our first visit here and I can't wait to come back! The waiter knew the menu very well and was well versed in the IPAs in the Sampler. My favorite was the Blood Orange IPA! We ordered calamari, chowder, seafood fettuccine and a lot more. Everyone absolutely loved their food. With service, atmosphere and food like this it's no surprise Glacier Brewhouse lives up to its name!
We went to the Brewhouse first. We have a reservation at 6:30pm, but changed schedule and asked go for it earlier. Front desk is kindly to help us check and arrange. Foods are great! Unfortunately, I was too full to try more. Everything is good including seasoning. However, customers are too much, sometimes we can’t find table server. If I would travel Anchorage again, I definitely will visit it again.
Busy place at lunch on a Monday. Sat at the bar as it was the only open seat. Best calamari that I have had. Thick slices in a jalapeño sauce. Not rubbery like other places. The halibut was above average but nothing to write home about. Great side salad and mashed potatoes. The peanut butter pie was big and not overly nutty. Serious sugar overload. Great service at the bar with a wide selections of beer on tap. Beer flights of five selections are available. So don’t be in a hurry, everyone is working hard to get your dishes out as fast as they can just a really busy place. Lots of the cruise ship passengers frequent here.
This was my First of few nights in Anchorage, Alaska. So glad i went to this place as the food was good and the waitress was very good and not to intrusive but attentive. Started off with one of their many beer selection on tap, which was good. As it was cold outside, i wanted to start off with a bowl of the Hearty Alaskan Seafood Chowder. Although it was a bit thicker then the chowders that i normally have. The taste was good and hit the spot on this cold day. Next i had the Shrimp and Grits. This was uniquely served on a cast iron like casserole dish which keep the food very hot as I devour it. Creamy grits with shrimps and andouille sausage sauce, topped off with a fried egg. Although i wish i had some more room for dessert, i was too full to order anything from the dessert menu. Would recommend this place in you are in the area.
A really great overall experience! We started with an appetizer of the seafood platter, which was way more food than we expected! 3 generous amounts of various samplings of seafood, all equally amazing. We were huge fans of the salmon dip!! We had the halibut as well, with a salad and mashed potatoes, which was very satisfying. Great beer selection too! Would definitely recommend! One important thing to keep in mind; make a reservation! This seems to be a very popular spot in town, so if you’re just walking in for a meal around dinner without one, expect a wait we did for an hour
The Caesar salad had soggy croutons. My guess is they prepare it ahead for the night and it sits the entire night because we came later in the evening around 9:30p. The “All In” fish and chips had way too much batter with bland fish. The coleslaw with it looked wilted and also older. The fries were fried too long which gives it a deep color and is crispy so it depends on your preference. I got the jambalaya fettuccine and the shrimp was boiled baby shrimps with a Cajun chicken. The cheese on top had congealed as well, was not a pleasant look or texture. The sausage and sauce was tasty and tangy. The rosemary bread was maybe the best of the night, with interesting spreads. Overall, the service was good but the food was not very thoughtful. I think this is due to how busy they usually are. If the wait is long , they have a large bar and lounge area that is first come first serve.
Great spot. It was super busy for a Monday. I would recommend calling for reservations. We lucked out and got a spot at the bar where it is open seating and full menu. The beers were on point. The tangerine was my favorite. The calamari is 100% worth it! Simple the best is not only the name but it really was. Got the cod and split it. They did a great job splitting the plate for us. I would stop again for sure!
My party of four had a reservation which was probably a good idea as the restaurant was pretty busy. We thought this was odd for a Sunday, but we were informed by someone else that in Alaska they treat Sunday as just another day. Our server was a friendly and cheerful young lady that was knowledgeable about the menu, and told us upfront what wasn't available without us having to ask or go through the process of ordering to find out something wasn't available. I had the Mixed Seafood Grill, which apparently was better than the dishes ordered by those accompanying me. Portion sizes were just right for me and while everything was seasoned about just right, a lemon wedge would have gone well with the seafood. My dining partners on the other hand - all three felt that their food was simply passable. More specifically that the meals simply lacked taste, especially for the prices charged. Unfortunately, I sampled their meals and have to agree with them. FYI A- they had the Herb Crusted Alaska Halibut, the Blackened Alaska Cod, and the Peppercorn Crusted Steak. They also have a small but decent selection of hand crafted beers, ciders, and other alcoholic beverages. Not a bad place to dine, just be aware that they may be a bit pricey and select your menu items with care. Parking: There is public parking paid directly across the street and while there are numerous parking meters lining the street itself, we didn't see any in working order - so free parking on the street...?
This was our second time at this establishment and the only disappointing thing is my food was cold while my husband’s was steaming hot. My advice is bring out dishes as they are finished versus waiting for everything to be done. This is the second time this has happened. However I’ll be back. We started out with the Alaska Smoked Salmon dip & omgggg. The taste was indescribable but probably the best smoked salmon I’ve ever tasted. It paired well with the toast and pickle on the side. I feel there should have been more than one. For the entrees I had the Grilled Petite Tender Wedge Salad substituted iceberg for arugula instead. The flavors exploded with my cold steak and the bacon, tomatoes, & arugula. I’m sure it would have been even better had the steak been hot. My husband had the Herb Crusted Alaska Halibut and I almost wanted to steal his meal. The halibut had a nice crisp outside with a juicy, flaky inside. The flavor was fantastic to say the least. The mashed potatoes were also very good with the veggies that accompanied them. Again, my only advice would bring out food as it’s fresh hot not allowing it to sit & get cold.
Great brew. Good food. Ordered cheeseburger. It was good. Fries was excellent. The roast chicken looks good. Maybe will try that on my next visit. More of a restaurant setup than a regular brew house setup in my opinionRecommended dishesBrewhouse Dinner Burger
