I've never been there! I with i could find a mobile food give away near joy and Schafer! Ours is gone now! We need forgotten harvest or gleaners mobile drive thru free food in our area again! They were a real great big help!!!! Especially in this day and age of the economic fall out! Cant afford anything anymore! Very sad! Free food helps!
Great time with coworkers. Well organized ,please ty to do, safe and lots of fun!! Excellent for a group outing g to give back to the community.
Great place to spend a few hours giving back to the community. Register on-line and sign-up for one of the short shifts on one of the food banks doing warehouse work. Get ready to share a good experience with good people.
Wonderful organization. You get more than you give when you volunteer or donate here. The staff and fellow volunteers are always amazing. They do amazing work! There are many ways to give your time. Highly recommend!!
Our school volunteers here every year. All classes from up to 8th grade go to volunteer their time. The younger kids pack Friday backpack bags for children to take home to have food for the weekend. Our 2nd grade packed 900 of them in an hour this past week. The older children usually sort big boxes of canned goods to be put into those bags. Anyone can volunteer at Gleaners. They have a website where you can sign up for your school or individually. They also have programs to help raise money for Gleaners including going there in painting ceramic bowls to be sold to raise money for Gleaners. The children have a great time and have a great feeling when they leave because they know they are volunteering and helping other children out.
This the oldest organization of its kind in the United States. They deliver food to hungry people. The building at Besufait is historical in that it used to house an automobile manufacturer. The building dates to the early twentieth century and heavy timbers and beautiful floors are throughout. They operate a world class radio dispatched distribution network. Original paintings by founder Gene Gonyo are displayed in the stairwell.
Our Non-Profit Mentoring Program had Wonderful experience! We created bowls to donate for charity.
As part of a volunteer event, I had the opportunity to work in the wearhouse. They rely on 50,000 plus volunteers to help package, box or prepare the food for distribution. They have many different programs to help the hungry and are constantly think of new ways to fulfill that need. There were about 80 to 100 people that came the morning I was there. If you have time, I would recommend taking the time. The parking lot has security and is close to the entrance.
Great place to volunteer! We packed food boxes. We had good leadership & direction. If you can, volunteer for Gleaners.
